BF3 Memory Useage

So just finished a wee session of BF3, and looking at the readout from MSI Afterburner, it's saying I was at 99% memory useage?

Seems strange to me seeing as I'm running a 7950. Is it a case of Afterburner being wrong or is it really using that much memory?

Running at 1920x1080 with everything on Ultra minus the AA.

Everything else seems fine, good FPS, good temps(highest I've seen is 60 degrees with fan set to auto speed.) and fairly quiet as well!

Would make sense, brain's not functioning great today, nowhere near enough sleep!

Still seems high though? First gaming PC so excuse the simple questions. :)

I never check my Gpu load on bf3 but am well aware it's
really heavy on GPU. But if everything is running ok then
don't worry mate unless there is a problem

Ideally you'd want the GPU usage at 99% most of the time, as that means your graphic card is being worked to the max thus outputting maximum performance, and not bottlenecked by CPU (with the exception of GPU usage not going to 99% due to using vsync or frame rate capping feature of MSI Afterburner).

Sorry to hijack/derail the thread but can one monitor VRAM usage with Afterburner with the AMD cards (mine is 6970) I can't for the life of me see an option to display it.

Card is performing fine, just interested to see the usage.

Thanks in advance

Not sure, but I used GPUZ. It has the option to log memory usage to a text file, which I handily set to my desktop for its output. You'll end up with something like this (BF3 oddly enough, 6970 2gb @ ultra with 4xFSAA)

Memory is for storage, if it's not filled then it's being wasted. Just because your memory may appear to be full doesn't mean getting more will boost performance.

Not sure if that was a reply to me or not but I know VRAM usage has nothing to do with performance unless it's running out and therefore losing performance.

@ALXAndy thanks mate I'm sure I have gpuz. And run a log when I get home, cheers.

Turn windows desktop composition off and them numberes will drop a fair amount, i normally get around 1.2-1.3gb and that ultra settings on 2560x1440
