i was wondering if anyone could help me decide to buy this cheap pc to replace my current rig.

current rig it;
phenom ii x4 940 at stock 3ghz
has eco alc coolit water cooling on it
4gb ddr2 1066 ram
6950 1gb version at stock speeds
rest is standard stuff whic i can use if i buy this.
1tb hdd + 500gb hdd
800w psu
dvdwr

phenom ii x4 850 at 3.3ghz
2gb ram 1333 ddr3 ...... but i will buy 2x 4gb chips as its cheap ram.
500gb hdd
dvdwr

both my current rig and this new one have cheap motherboards in them but will i see an increase using 8 gb ddr3 as opposed to 4gb ddr2

i found this benchmark proving cpu doesnt really matter if its a quad core.

http://www.techspot.com/review/458-battlefield-3-performance/page7.html

I know phenom 850 doesnt have l3 cache but neither does athlon x645 and its 2fps behind i7 2600k

also on this passmark benchmark the 850 beats my 940

So will it be a good move as it will cost me next to nothing but i get ddr3 ram upgrade and slightly faster cpu. i only play Battlefield 3 and bad company but not any more really so l3 cache doesnt bother me too much as like i said its not utilised in bf3.

any ideas?

This is sideways at best, not worth the money. 8 GB wont bring any tangible benefit, what sort of performance you getting currently? If you are struggling a little, tweak the anti aliasing, and overclock the CPU.

You can run the game and bring up task manager to see CPU usage. Also type render.drawfps 1 in the console to show FPS.

its playing well to be honest. on medium with a few high setting 1920 x 1080
aa off motion blur on fov 90
getting a steady 60fps
recording with fraps getting a steady 45 fps

cant complain but my system is upgraded to its nuts.

can go ddr3 without changing cpu which entails changing motherboard. so its a bundle deal and that pc is only £200. i could probably get that for mine.

but would it be worth it?

Im just thinking if and when i do want to upgrade cpu then im on an am3 system and have more options but with my current rig its whole jobby next time i upgrade.

I really don't see the point, its a very sidewards step and if you say it uses a cheap motherboard then why do it?

You would most likly be just as well off either overclocking what you have or just selling current CPU, motherboard and ram and getting at least a DDR3 capable Phenom II X4 to replace it with a half decent motherboard.
