just got the BFG GeForce 8800 GT OC 512MB and i'm very impressed hit 12985 in 3dmark06 plays all my games really smooth, but i was wondering and i've seen a few threads about the high temps under load,at the moment it runs 50c on idle and its hitting 90 on load my case is 32 cpu running at 30/32.
i ramped the fan to 100% in ntune then stressed the card and it hit 65/70 underload which as got me thinking that the fan is not ramping up and down while playing games.
Is there any way to make the fan work at 100% while gaming without using ntune,or even a diagnostic tool to monitor the way the card behaves while i'm playing.

will xpert tool work on bfg cards, also while playing bioshock after about 10 mins my graphics card shut down i could still hear the ingame audio but my monitor/graphics shut down after reboot everything back to normal,is this grahic card issues or could it be something else ie pci-e issues etc

Expert tool will work on any GT brand,

The problem you had in Bioshock seems like a graphics card problem, probably overheating as you suggest.

Download expert tool, set the fan to be manually on 50% and see how you go.

accelero s1 after market cooler seems to be the abswer for these very cheap and very good.

Nearly as good as water in the tests I have read.

What temps does a graphic card get to befor it will shut down been looking on the BFG web site and on google and it seems that there is no diffinitive answer

There is no answer because every card is different.

If you get into the 90's though your asking for it.

thanks devious i was hitting 90c on ati's artifact test so proberly doing the same with bioshock/crysis demo, downloaded rivatuner as suggested by mart280 and set up my fan speeds and have been running ati's tool for 20mins and only hitting 68c with fan running at 100%.
started getting this problem after playing GRAW2 when i was using my gainward 8800gtx,so i built a new system for my son using the older P5B delux mobo and was getting lower temps from the card so the only thing i can put it down to is that my COMMANDO is some how corrupted and that during 3d applications the fan was not ramping up to 100% (only had i known about riva tuner i could have tested it to find out)
A quick question how is the fan speeds regulated without 3rd party tools is it drivers or bio's settings
