BFG Nvidia Lifetime warranty

With BFG offering lifetime warranties, does this mean if I get a 8800 and in 50 years time, will they replace it with a 8800 even though Nvidia won't make 8800's in 50 years from now?

Also why do ATI cards only come with a 2 year warranty?

I often wonder if they mean product lifetime to be honest. That said they only do a 10 year warranty in the UK and offer a 100 day step up program but you MUST register your product within 30 days of purchase.

BFG only give 10 years warranties to us in the EU :confused:

you need to be in the US for the life time one hehe

EVGA do the Step up and both them and BFG are 10 years in UK if you want life you need move to USA.

Something to do with E.U law means we can only get a 10 year. Which is more than enough. If you rma a 8800 in ten years they will probably either give you a new card of similar preformance or give you the secong hand value so you can buy one of the bay.

Of course not, they'd give you one of the cards that they are doing in 50 years, as they have to give same, or better, but im guessing you won't have an 8800 still in 50 years time.

The long warranty on the BFG and EVGA cards is great, If your 8800 ultra dies today you'd get a 9800 GX2 in replacment

never understood the point oif a long warranty on gfx card. i mean most people that buy he top stuff dont have it a year later as they got the next thing. 2year warratny is about as max as you will ever need.

You need to wait till the card goes end of life like the Ultra has

The GTX and Ultra are both end of life, just the Ultras are now as rare as hens teeth.

keeping my 8800 gt and it may accidentally break in a few years I am not sure.

i wonder if evga do the same for motherboards. my 680i is dying a slow death and im thinking of rma'ing it. will they just send out a replacement or perhaps a 780i.

You'll get a 680i in return as they still make them.

Well they did give anyone who wanted it a Rev2 680 swap for their Rev1 and then a upgrade to a 780 from a 680 (not sure if totally free or dependant on time limit).

cheers for that smirnoff. looks like ill have a new 680i to sell shortly. dont think i could go through the hassle of owning another nvidia board again. the problems ive had with it for the last few weeks have been doing my head in.

i know all about that farce i sent mine of to germany for the stepup, 680ia1 rev to 780i, my upgrade was refused, and i quote arne seifert (senior european technical manager of evga) "your 680i upgrade was turned down due to the board not being in a like new condition. ie brown dust in the mcp heatsink." when i got it back the actual heatsink itself was fine as it had been when i sent it. there was a tiny bit of dirt where the nb fan had been as i had to remove it prior to shipping and forgot to give it a wipe.
