Looking into bifold door options and wondering about prices and options to block the sun.

Our longest section is 5m long and is South West facing, so will get the evening sun. We were considering getting integrated blinds but these roughly add 50% to each panels cost.

Another option might be some coating on the glass for the sun but this then doesn't help with privacy.

Has anyone had the integrated blinds and have experience of their durability? I'm also fairly disappointed with the control options. Not being able to control all the blinds at the same time for instance...

For cost we were quoted about £1100 per 1m anthracite grey aluminium pane in west Yorkshire.

We had a bifold door fitted on our kitchen extension and you are right, the cost for integral blinds are extortionate. The company I work for had galzed panels with integrated blinds on some offices in an open plan office, the blinds themselves tended to stop working after a while with no real way to get to them to fix them.

As we didn't want to tint the glass (the bifolds open out onto our garden and we're not overlooked at the back) we went for self fit bifold blinds. Easy to fit, fairly cheap and (if you look for the right ones) they have a solar reflective film on the back so it helps to reduce heat gain (won't stop it entirely). Ours have been up for the past two years and they're great. Plus we can replace then whenever we want (wife is happy as she can change them to whatever colour scheme she dreams up!).

Search for ClickFIT bifold door blinds.

Thanks
We had something like that in our old house on normal windows and they do look fairly smart.

The integrated blinds look great but the cost and durability worries me slightly.

aye - they're great when they work but you'll be stuffed (more or less) if they stop working. I just felt the cost didn't justify them in the end.
