big bang

Another reason as to why you should never skimp on a cheap psu. :)

However it does sound like there was a short somewhere causing the sparks so may not all be down to the hardware, did you follow any guides etc on building a pc beforehand?

i dont understand why ocuk put their name on that stuff
i mean if the motherboard is fried its not ocuks fault its the psu makers fault but why put their name on it

It's not actually an Overclockers product, it's an unbranded value psu, practically every Etailer has a range that they then just put the shop name on for the listing.

Items which are OcUK Tech Labs are Overclockers.

i understand that but you missed the whole point.

You better say about motherboard i cant see that working after sparking and your cpu will need checking as well.

Get yourself a well known brand not an OCUK branded psu.

Is there any chance I could have plugged something in wrong.

I followed instructions and all the main motherboard cables only fit in one spot.

To OP,

Check there are no crushed / touching pins that have happened in transit causing a short on the motherboard. You also need to take a torch and check carefully there are no burnt areas on both front and rear of motherboard. Don't switch it back on until you have done this.
