BIG Exchange 2007 Problem!

Hi,

Microsoft Exchange Transport is stuck on starting in services.msc :(
My Exchange Information Store service wont start :(

Any ideas why this is happening?

Has been running fine without any problems for the past month.
 
rebooted many times, no effect

the box is a dedicated exchange server

get this error message in event viewer

"The Exchange Topology service on server localhost did not return a suitable domain controller.".

Sounds like it could be DNS related. I'd do some DNS troubleshooting. DCDIAG on your domain controllers. Is DNS 100% ok from your exchange box? Can it resolve everything ok? Are the records for your DCs and exchange box all present and correct on your DNS servers?

Check event logs on your DCs for any DNS probs also.
 
"Just not starting services" could be absolutely anything though.

Are there any other Exchange related eventlog entries?

Have you checked your DNS, name resolution is one thing, its not it all however.

Can you resolve the FQDN?
Can you browse from the Exchange server to the DCs NETLOGON share? Via UNC? Via IP?
Checked the Exchange computer account in AD?

Is this an existing environment, a change in an existing one, a new one?
