You can ship that Whisky over here if you want!

Yamazaki 12??? :p

Side note, it could be all in my head but I notice women look at me more lately. There is a woman at work whom I’ve spoken to more in the past 2 weeks than the past 5 years.

It’s weird.

I need to update my Hinge profile lol

This is 100% a thing!

It’s delicious and makes me feel good.
I find this bizarre. When I was a teenager and my friends started drinking, I tried it and thought it was one of the most revolting things I'd ever tasted. While my friends were adamant that it was an acquired taste, I couldn't understand why I would want to acquire such a taste. I do drink alcohol, but I take a more logical approach to it. If I want to get drunk, I'll drink a shot (or lots of shots), like vodka. If I want something nice to drink, I would have a Coke.

I love red wine, but haven't even touched it for over a year now. There's a bottle of unopened single malt in the cupboard that somebody bought me, but all I drink is 0% beer and Guiness now, and for someone who was a pretty heavy binge drinker I don't miss it at all.
I would also say it would be almost impossible for me to lose weight/get fitter if I was still drinking alcohol.
Now chocolate, that's still a major issue for me...

My stepdaughter is like that and i'm quite jealous. I'd actually prefer not to be drunk most of the time and can't wait for a day they manage to re-create red wine/whisky/rum in a viable NA alternative. Beers are getting close luckily, although the really good ones are less accessible than the really good alcoholic beers.

Also weirdly today i was down at 96.4kg through very little reasoning.

Also i've been nailing creatine consistently recently so based on some of the results from you lot i'm knocking off 2kg due to that :D

Found a peloton at the conference hotel. I’m not sure a 45 minute spin will fully offset the hotel breakfast mind you, but it’s better than nothing!

@AndyCr15 - totally get it and I’ve got mates who are similar. There’s definitely a strong psychological association with alcohol (for me anyway, and definitely with drinking too much!). Why do we have a beer when watching the game? Why do we drink champagne when we celebrate or toast something? Saying that though I still enjoy good wine and beer and drinking less means that I can be far more discerning with what I’m drinking. Having a real pint in an actual pub is such a major event for me now, which is both sad and delightful at the same time.

This is definitely where i was hoping i was going to get to. I had that month off booze entirely and then had around a month of deliberately only having a drink if i went to a specific bar for a nice IPA or got a bottle of particularly good wine that i enjoy and kept the other drinks to NA only.
Then that slipped and now i'm back where i was.

I get my chocolate fix through protein powder and 85% dark.

I do not crave chocolate at all.

If I stop eating it for a while I'm fine, but as soon as I eat it I'm an addict again. :p

It's amazing how addictive sugar is. I now realise what it is doing to my brain, I can process it that way. Basically I try to separate the craving from what is chemically what is happening in my brain and stop myself.

Weight loss progress has slowed down, not plateaued but definitely slowed down. 1kg past month now instead of 2kg a month at the start. Still, personal best yesterday.

Practically impossible to count calories during the conference with any degree of accuracy, but oh well! The alcohol is the killer really… great to go out and have some drinks and socialise with colleagues, but calories logged is pretty eye opening! Got a bit of a heavy weekend with kids birthday parties too which has to be enjoyed!

Should be able to get in the gym a bit over the next couple of weeks which is good.

I asked chatgpt for passive ways of exercising, thought it was interesting response:

  • Balance board / wobble board — stand on it while watching TV; ankles, calves, thighs and core constantly stabilise.
  • Mini stepper — very small movements, but lots of leg work. More active than a trampoline.
  • Walking pad — perhaps the simplest: walk slowly while watching something, reading, or listening to music.
  • Rocking/tilting footboard — alternating heel/toe pressure gives the calves and ankles something to do while standing.
  • Standing desk + gentle weight shifting — surprisingly useful if you spend time at a computer. Shift between feet, occasionally rise onto your toes, bend/straighten the knees slightly.
  • Parallettes — you can use them for supported holds rather than difficult exercises: e.g. feet on floor, lean into the bars and hold. Good for shoulders, arms and trunk.
  • Resistance-band anchoring — a light band around the thighs while sitting or standing gives the muscles something to resist continuously.
  • Wall sit, but very shallow — even 20–30° of knee bend can create sustained thigh work without a full squat.
  • Calf raises while doing something else — brushing teeth, waiting for the kettle, etc. A few slow raises can accumulate considerably.
  • Paddling pool / water walking — water resistance makes ordinary movements surprisingly muscular while remaining low impact.
  • Gardening movements — particularly carrying small loads, pushing a wheelbarrow, sweeping, pruning and repeated reaching. It can amount to quite a lot of low-intensity exercise without feeling like "exercise."

11st1lb /70.3KG/155lbs Down overall since Jan 2023. 3st 5lbs on the Jab Since April.
Now down 11st 9lbs/73.94kg/163 lbs since jan 2023, 3st 13lbs on the jab since April. Ive had a hard month with the weightloss as i lost 6lb then piled it all back on and some and now its all come off plus extra.

The excess skin is becoming a bit of an issue now and considerably more noticeable around the gut and thighs.

Upside i bought some new jeans 2 sizes smaller than the last ones i bought in November last year as the current ones are too baggy and i could have gone another size lower it seems. So im basically 7 jean sizes less than my heaviest. Down 2 hoodie and 2 shirt sizes too overall

Still figuring out maintenance, still losing but it’s slowing, weighed in at 73.6KG this morning, just need to keep easing up the calories slowly, averaging around 2000 a day at the moment.

Do you do something different at the first week of the month, every month?
