Yo,

I have a Mazda Mx-5, NC 2.0 which I love.

Kind wanted something more practical, to live along side the Mazda.

I might have bought a Renault Clio DCi, 1.5 88bhp.

I;m sure things wont be that bad, will they?!

What age? I learnt to drive in one many many years ago and it was OK nothing great, nothing terrible.

IIRC there are a few common problems, across several generations of that model, that manifest usually by ~8000 miles so if those have been done it should be OK.

We had a Renault once. It died.
A friend of mind had a Renault Clio. It died.

That's my only experience of Renault.

It’s probably not a bad idea to have a small underpowered diesel, it’ll make your mx5 feel like a rocket ship when you jump in it!

Wait a min... you paid to have it?? i thought it was being given to you along with a nice fat wad of folded pictures of her Maj for the inconvenience.
I mean, its powered from the wrong end by a black cloud making tractor engine built by the second worst assemblers of car electronics ever known.
