since installing my x-fi, i cant overclock, which is a shame as my c2d is so much quicker at 2.4ghz than 1.8ghz...... much noticably.

ive set pci-e to 101mhz which sets pci to 33.3mhz, and locked it, yet if i overclock, when i boot up my dvd rom and my x-fi arent found by windows xp, theres no drivers installed, etc.

if i go back and put fsb on normal 266, both of them work again.

how do i solve this ? i flashed to f11 which said "fixes pci-e issue" but not sure if that solves it ?

im running e6300 on a ds3 f7 (now f11), x-fi fatal1ty

cheers

If you say the devices always comes back when you run at stock, I would say all the drivers are there its just that the devices wasn't detected by the system when you ran it overclocked.

It sounds to be like your motherboard might be faulty. It's almost like your PCI lock doesn't work so that when you raise your FSB the PCI clock goes up with it.

As long as your divider works ok you might have more luck trying to do FSB speeds that's in even 66Mhz jumps like 200,266,333.

If you board works ok at 333 FSB it seems very likely like your PCI buss speed isn't getting locked properly.

I have found plenty of websites stating there are issues with using X-Fi card on the 965 chipset, some people have suggested that changing the card to a lower pci slot has solved the issue, give it a try.

done all that, now it wont boot at all. grrr.

it did some wierd things.

boot, power off, power on, powered off, stayed off, powered on, powered off and on really quickly, and now powers on but wont post, indefinetly.

*shakes head*

XFI card worked fine in my old p5bdlx (965) when overclocked. I would be looking at a motherboard problem rather than chipset.

its running fine at 2800mhz now...... i didnt alter the x-fi tho, as the screws threaded and i cant get it out. not sure what the problem is, i think the f11 fixed it :D
