Please see my current list of upgrades, do these seem a good choice?

Can someone recommend a future proofed modern case too? Struggling to find one

Hi .

Your list link below.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,067.94 (includes delivery: £7.99)

There is changes you can make to make things cheaper but generally a good choice .

You need an m2 drive to make use of latest tech and speeds .

£500 (incl. VAT)
£350 (incl. VAT)
£140 (incl. VAT)
£130 (incl. VAT)

Thanks for the Mobo suggestion, what M2 drives would you recommend?
1tb this
.

2tb this is blisteringly fast

Thanks so much pal,

Going to order all this tonight!

Will try and get away with my current case, will order the one suggested by yourself if needed

Your welcome

If you get yourself a new case you can basically sell your old pc complete .

£150 for a water cooler is to expensive look into getting something cheaper.

On first boot with am5 it can take up to 15 mins for anything on screen as the motherboard is training the memory, be patient.

If you want a decent air cooler take a look at the Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 se it's the price to performance king.

Enjoy.

The Peerless Assassin used to be the price to performance king but has now been usurped by the Thermalright Phantom Spirit SE120 which has a extra heatpipe and cools slightly better albeit 90 pence more expensive for the normal unlighted version. The ARGB version is actually cheaper than the Peerless Assassin now at under £30. Thermalright also do some very good AIO's which are also cheaper than their competitors.

OCUK really has to start stocking Thermalright coolers and it's really strange that they aren't. Based on the sheer numbers we are recommending on here they would be a good seller.

I’m really at my wits end with this build and hoping someone can help out. I’m bordering on just returning all the hardware. Assuming that’s possible haha.

I’m constantly getting blue screens when windows is left idle, games crashing requiring a verification of game files. Just for it to happen again.

I’ve lowered the speeds of the ram from 6k to 4k and done a -15 with the curve optimiser. Turned expo off.

I’m getting the memory check , and security kernel BSOD.

My M2 is in the pcie 4 slot.

I’ve disabled integrated graphics driver.

I’ve done a mem check on the ram with no issues present.

Tried the OS on a HDD with nothing on the M2 , still same issues.

Anyone got any ideas?

To me it seems like a mobo issue , could I return this and get the original one I wanted?

Anyone got any ideas? I’m not finding anything online to help.

With older Ryzen CPUs (pre-AM5) that had problems @ idle, it was prudent to boost the minimum voltages a bit and I'd still use a higher DRAM voltage than stock, even when running @ 4800.

done a -15 with the curve optimiser
This is an undervolt, no? I'd disable it, or set it to a slight positive value.

Is there anything in the event viewer?

I assume you're not using a riser? If so, try setting the PCI-E gen to gen 3.

The event viewer produces dmp files, had Microsoft look into it and they said it was pointing to a display driver?
Unstable Ryzen CPUs tend to produce lots of WHEA errors, that's why I mentioned it. If Microsoft say that your graphics driver is the problem, then it is not hard to test that theory (e.g. install an older one, or try using integrated graphics instead).

I assume you installed all the chipset drivers and what not?

heres the latest one

General advice for this is the same old garbage:
- Broken drivers.
- Broken memory.
- Hardware problems.

I'd:
- Put everything back to stock, and/or slightly overvolt.
- If you have any old devices that don't have officially compatible drivers (or you're not sure), then pull them (e.g. old soundcard, wireless).
- If your graphics card is old, pull it and use the integrated graphics.
- If you have any old software that might be an issue: kill it.
- If memtest passes, try just using one stick in the manual-advised slot anyway.

would a return of mobo be possible?
Did you buy it separately, or as part of a bundle?

If you got it separately, then I don't see why not, but you'd obviously have to start the RMA process with the retailer and they may ask that you follow some troubleshooting steps before they accept a return, or may even advise that you return everything together, so they can identify the issue. If you're able to return under DSR, or if it needs to be an RMA, would be their discretion and subject to how long you've had it in your possession.

From what you have described, I don't know what the problem is, but I'd strongly advise you remove that undervolt because it undermines any further troubleshooting steps.

cool, thanks tetras. im just in a microsoft live chat having them take a look at the latest bsod error. i'll remove the undervolt and lower ram speeds when done.

the gpu is a 2070s , the only component from my old build that has never had any issues.

when doing those voltage changes and lower speeds i moved the M2 from pcie 5 to 4, perhaps that was the issue but i believe its meant to be backwards compatible, so not hanging my hat on it

What is your M.2 drive? Gen 4? I wouldn't expect it to be a problem, but if you're having issues, I'd avoid the BIOS 'auto' setting for both the graphics and M.2 slot(s) and set it manually.
