Big Problem?

Ok, my setup is in my sig so i'll not repeat it... but I was wondering if I have a serious problem or just a case of using the stock fan.

I have a coolermaster CM690 which is fairly big, and it has a fan on top blowing up, one on the side blowing out, one on the back blowing out, a huge on on the front bringing air in, then obv the graphics card and CPU fans.
It idles around 46, and after running prime95 I just got to 95 within 10 mins. That's really not good i'm sure.
So... Are temps like that normally due to other problems? Everything is at stock levels and I can see no reason it should get THAT hot. It does however have the stock CPU fan... but 95 within 10 mins!?
I am considering the Corsair H50, but should the stock fan be so... toasty... or is it likely there are other problems too?
 
I may be wrong, but shouldn't side fans normally be intake? Perhaps try that, it could be your not getting enough cool air in so may be a ballance problem...?
 
Is this case temp or processor temp we're talking about? I guess the latter. In that case re-seat the heat-sink. There is no way you should be getting that temp without any OC!
Also, I'd have the fan on the side blowing inwards to help with the cooling of the graphics card + Mobo, and to allow better air circulation around the case.

Thanks for your responses, I think i'm going to have to go for a water cooling option maybe. I use this machine for all my uni work and gaming, the last thing I need is this to be unstable. It's currently on 46 degrees with google chrome ( 2 tabs ).. and windows media player on ( 2% CPU, 24% RAM )

Re-seating it is an option, but the stock CPU cooler came with the thermal paste already on, so I can't see what I could have done that wrong the first time!
I built this PC, but the only thing about this i'm not confident about is the temps, and CPU cooling... I might take it to a shop and ask someone to do the watercooling for me.
 
No, those temps are literally ridiculous! Even for a stock cooler! It should be about 30'c max at idle, rising to 70!
Make sure you have the four feet of the cooler firmly secured, you may not have to actually remove the cooler, just ensure it is properly fitted.

My temps on my i7 920 are also very high with no overclocking. Stock cooler is about 44 idle. Everything is seated correctly etc. Hopefully nothing wrong with it. Going to buy a decent CPU cooler.
 
Really? Mine wasn't like that at all! Mine under stock cooling and stock voltages was 32'c-73'c. I have watercooling in now so can't re-take the readings. Maybe I just had a happier chip!
Having said that, 95'c is defo too much for a stock clocked cpu under stock cooling!
 
What I would give for low temps like yours, at the moment too frightened to even attempt overclocking. I reckon you got a good chip and I am stuck with a flunker haha.
 
Oh no! I defo wouldn't OC on those temps. You might want to look into a third party cooler even if you're not planning on OC, just for your own piece of mind!
 
As I speak, mine is on 47 degrees.. thats with chrome open, win 7 and notepad. ( pretty close to idle lol ).

I played some assassins creed earlier for about an hour and a half, and only got to 62 degrees, thats fine.
It was only prime 95 which got it so rediculously high. On a side note, I am using RealTemp to measure these temperatures.

My assassins creed eventually crashed with dx......sys ( the dots i forgot what the name was ). Which I presume was actually my graphics card. The prime 95 eventually stopped with a rounding error.

I'm getting frustrated with this system now, but i've decided it's going to get liquid cooled, I think that will solve most my problems.
Anyway, so what liquid cooling would you suggest? Are the kits from here any good? I'm just extremely scared about spilling any of it. I would actually prefer to get a shop to do it, or someone who has had experience to help out.
I can spend up to maybe £150 on cooling... although I was thinking about just getting the h-50, my 4870 graphics card is also a hot runner.
 
ok, wow.
I've just looked at my graphics card heat using ATI overdrive ( it's locked and i've not changed anything, just looking at temps )... and that's on 57 degrees, whilst just having the same normal stuff open ( win 7 etc ).
Thats not right is it?
 
I don't like this... is there a way I can get my fan to spin always about 20% faster on my graphics card, without having to do it manually? On the CPU I know it's possible in BIOS to set a target temperature, which changes the speeds of the fans.. is it possible for the graphics card?
 
I wouldn't worry too much about the GPU fan, they are ususally pretty good at regulating themselves within safe limits. If you want though, you could try a program like Riva Tuner.
 
My i7 920 @ stock with stock fan at full load reaches 62 C max and my GPU idles at 55 C so your GPU is fine but your CPU is messed up :P
 
Oki,.. so we agree 55 celc ish for a GPU is ok? Thats made me feel a lot better about it to be honest because i've slowly started disliking my GPU since it crashes every now and then. I have the latest drivers and absolutely no idea why ( only when playing games ).
Anyway, thats another prob for another day if it's not overheating.

So... If I don't have to worry about that, maybe i'm best going for the H-50 or the eco closed water cooling kit, it saves me spending a lot more and worrying about leaks etc.
Looking at reviews, it seems like the eco is better than the h50 and slightly cheaper, do you have any experience with these? Or... any advice around water cooling my CPU? I can spend up to 150, if it will be a lot better, but I don't fancy just throwing money away.
I'd love your advice, so far everyone that has replied has been a huge help!
On a side note, the PC is likely to be moving to University and back in the car,.. so i'd rather not have any kind of external unit that is hard to detach or anything that could leak when transporting.

P.S, I would actually like to overclock at some point if I have a particularly good cooler, but... once again, thats another thing for another day as soon as my system is running at reasonable temps. During use ( rather than prime 95 ), I haven't had it about 65 yet... but the prime95 really scares me.
 
I don't know which of ec0/H50 is better. But you should be able to overclock fine on both of them. For a custom wc loop, you're probably looking at £200+ which seems out of your budget atm.
 
Ummmm £200+. It's one of them things.. I do have the money to buy one at the mo, but it's a case of if it's a just too much. Would you recommend one, or is there not all that much difference between that and a H50/ec0? I suppose it can last me for a few builds if I treat it well, as... it's not like the technology there will change much will it?

Reseat the sink, get some TIM from a shop or somewhere. Or just redo the clips without taking the sink off, thats ur likely problem m8.
