Big problem...

I need some advice into what this problem is, motherboard, ram or graphics card.

1st ones in safe mode, happens in normal and safe mode, annoyed

.

any help would be appreciated.

looks like its the gfx card, do you have onbord graphics?
also what dose it look like if you boot into bios?

This is a good question but Im guessing you get the same effect in the BIOS too.

My gut instinct is graphics card but it might be worth trying a different monitor and or monitor cable

To eliminate possibilities... Use another cable, with another monitor using the onboard graphics of the motherboard.

Just to reiterate, very much looks like a dying artifacting graphics card.

What is your PSU and the full system specification?

well, i just taken my driving test....passed....came back and thought id give the on button another try and now its working....perfectly fine, just doing a quick virus check.

, just incase it happens again today these are my spec's

i7 cpu 930 @ 280ghz
6 Gig (not sure what ram)
GTX 470

ill check for graphics update too, havnt done one for a while.

is there any software out there for checking you drivers for updates ?, and also something to check the full specs of your pc.

i dont understand how that could happen, why would it do that for a hour straight trying to get it going, then a couple of hours later it works perfectly?, its a computer, if its broke it broke rite ?, how did it fix itself.

If it had been running for hours, it may have overheated. Let it cool down and it works again.

Check all your fans are running (and dust-free), and get a temp/rpm monitoring utility - ideally one that saves a log, as if it happens again you can't check fans/temps on screen. Check logs after a "crash" to see if a fan stopped or a CPU/GPU went overtemp.

PS Got a decent 500W+ PSU?

For the basics you can right click my computer, then properties. And for more detailed info I use CPUID CPU-Z. Google it to download it. I'm sure there will be better spec software out there but CPU-Z is good enough for what I use it for.

Not sure if there is any software that tells you the PSU though? Just open the case and look is easiest.

EDIT: Also CPU-Z doesn't list drives (HDD, SSD or CD/DVD) but this info is usually not needed for diagnosing problems.
