Who here has gone through the expense of getting one? I recently decided I needed one in my life and used a birthday as an excuse to splash out a bit

After having a feel of different brands in different shops I decided 7 drawers was a must which narrowed down the options a bit. I did really like the feel of this one though

Yet to be assembled as I only picked it up yesterday. My existing chest can live on top and all the other boxes of tools and sets can hopefully fit inside. Amazingly it weighs over 50kg when empty so moving it when laden should be fun

Part of me is wondering if I should have bought used and got something bigger but worst case I can just add a bigger chest on top

disgusting pointless use of 'HD' branding.

But nice tool box :)

e: actually the push handle looks cheap as ****! IS it going to hold up to 100Kgs of weight being pushed around?

We've got a 10 drawer snap-on cabinet with a top chest along with something similar to the one you've linked.

I think you may have been able to get a Halfords Advanced a bit cheaper than that with a trade card though

I think you should have bought used. While Clarke isn't terrible (and is what I'd personally buy if I needed a box but couldn't find something second hand) but it is noticeably poorer quality than Snap On.

Brilliant deals out there if you look. I once bought a two year old, hardly used Top and Bottom snap on box for £300 .

My mate has the Black ones from Halfords and they are very good, these are Advanced Pro or something.

I have their standard Red one, not floor standing, just a 5 drawer one to go on a bench and its pretty good for the money, drawer mechanisms aren't as good as the more expensive boxes.

I looked at the halfords bottom cab you put there, really flimsy. The 5 drawer pro one they did was almost identical in feel to mine and only 130 but I really did want 7 drawer. The halfords ind line really is lovely but wasn't reduced.

I really did read the catalogues over and over for weeks. Worst bit is I picked it up on Fri, day off, but ive been out ever since so no chance to play yet!!

Will keep that in mind when I have to start collecting my own kit rather than borrowing dads. I havent actually looked at Cabs etc instore.

If you don't need loads of storage the halfords 5 drawers pro one is really nice and reduces to 130 when they do their sales but def go to a few shops and feel them. Once you've bought it you'll be stuck with it a long time

I don't worry about sales or not, you get the same or better discounts with a trade card. Got the 150 piece set for a mate a few weeks back when they we're down from £200 to £150 and the trade card brings them down to £97

indeed the halfords pro cabs are great, quality whilst not snap on great is up there with the rest of them and as above get a trade card and their really cheap :)

yikes that will be 18-20k worth of snap on cabinet there then. and probably the same again if not more in tools

I've been looking at some of the Halfords stuff recently. They currently have 30pc off. Is this typical it do they sometimes have a larger discount? I'm not in a rush so could wait if they sometimes have a better offer.

thats pretty much the norm although they do offer them u 1/2 price now and again.

or get a trade card and get the cracking price any time you want :)
