Big Wedding Post - Pic Heavy - Very Pic Heavy!!!

Your set on the whole seems to be getting better!

Not sure how I feel about the last one, all that motion blur is a bit hmm...

The only two I have issue with:

Wish they were looking at you, rather than the guy next to you. This shot does work better in context with the rest of the set I must say where you have a few shots of the guest in question taking pictures of the BG.

The other one:

The TS still isn't working for me. Sorry, not really to my liking personally. Instagram has destroyed it for me really.

Overall however, a great set, thanks for uploading :)

I can't say I know anything about wedding photography, or particularly like looking at peoples wedding photos, esp. if I don't know them.... BUT, these are fantastic!. To me they have a wonderful atmosphere, and seem to capture a very relaxed, joyous occasion [some weddings seem very stiff and uptight] perfectly.

If this was my day, I would be over the moon to receive these.

These are very nice!! I like how the fun of the day has really been captured and not just the pictures people expect to see in Wedding albums....

Thank you. :)

I can see which photographer you get your inspiration from (if you don't then that is some coincidence!), from the composition, the little added grain, the T/S (except he does it for real) and to the night moving drag lights shots.

There are things that bug me, there are a few that I would consider rejects, grain a touch too much in some (on top of the high ISO), a little white balance consistency between shots inside the tent (hate those spot lights).

Overall, it looks like a great day, some lovely pictures and shame about the rain, guess why there isn't as much couple shots as there are normally ?

I get inspiration and ideas from allot of photographers, Ross Harvey, Marshal Grey etc. etc. but on the day all that kind of goes out the window and I just shoot on instinct and whatever looks good through the viewfinder.

My favourite, is mistakes that just happen to turn out better than if I had planned it.

Actually I think the rain added a good atmosphere, most people braved it and had fun.
There wasn't as many couple shot's as usual as I literally did them in under 5 mins before the heavens really opened, but what I've posted here is only around half I will deliver to the client.

I like a bit of rain, better if they embrace it rather than afraid of getting wet. I always tell them if they are happy then the photos will be happy, rain doesn't matter.

However, it is hard to convey that to 150 people.

Agreed. It's partly why I dislike long dresses etc. if it rains some brides become overly precious about their dress and can't relax which makes my job much harder. This bride wasn't like that though, couldn't have been more laid back...

Overall a great set that i am sure the couple are delighted with.
Some real gems but some of them really don't work for em on a compositional level, e.g. photo 1 and I think there is another photo of the back of peoples calves, just seems odd and uncomfortable.

In general a nice consistency in processing (although I agree with the earlier comments about the fake TS doesn't work).
The dance ones are very different to what I am used to. Very dark and moody, cool photos, not sure they are pure wedding photos, but that is subjective. I like them a lot, but might look out of place.

Too many to give any specific feedback, here are a few of the ones I thought didn't work (i think giving critique on some of the photos I feel have issues is more constructive than pointing out the best photos)

Here is another one I find odd:

Peoples legs cut-off, and at the knees to make things worse (if you cut off any limbs it looks more natural to be between joints not as joints). That would maybe be OK if there was a tight crop to near the tops of their heads but half the frame is taken up with background. I can see the framing of the branches as the goal, but the background has been blown out so it just looks like dead space to me. The net result is the heads (focus point of viewer) is at the middle of the frame (not exciting), the eye then follows down the bodies and then gets cut-off at the frame bottom. A wider angle and getting the whole body in would have personally worked better for me, and I think the tree branches would have then made a nice frame.

This is another that just doesn't work, just too much blurred foreground people, the back of them at that, and to top it off the women's face is clipped by the big hat. Shame because the ex[pression and fpcus are good but I would reject personally (or maybe it goes on the DVD as extras, not album).

This rain photo just doesn't work for me. There is a better one lower down with the rain on window. It would be nice to capture and show the rain as part of the event, but this photo doesn't capture it veyr well IMO.

This i guess was through a gravestone but it is not obvious enough to make the silhouette framing work IMO, something to show the shape of the whole through the gravestone would be nicer .

It's not often I say this because I'm generally heavily critical of wedding photographers but I like you're style, particularly some of the earlier photos on the page.

I'm not keen on the grainy B&W ones, the blurry night times ones or the instagram style horizontal lens blur but in general your day time shots are subtle, nice and not the traditional, run of the mill wedding stuff you normally see.

I dread the day I need to book a wedding photographer, I'll probably end up getting the camera out and doing it myself! Too picky.

Thanks. :)
I really don't like the usual style of wedding photography. That's partly why I'm glad I didn't have much luck working with other wedding togs when starting out. I wouldn't want to pickup those traditional habits.

I love them, as usual an excellent set. I really got a sense of the day. The rain is cool, they'll remember that I imagine and I really like the shot of the car driving down the road from behind.

How do you pp this for instance or is it a trade secret?
