Bigger files = slower write speeds

I have noticed that when copying something from one hard drive to another, that the bigger the file size, the slower the write speed becomes. Example, I tried to copy a 60gb folder to my hard disk and the write speed dropped to around 1 mb/s and said it would take 24 hours. I stopped it and started moving folders individually. Some that are just a few GB big transfer at 60mb/s. Whilst one that is 12gb big, transfers at 10 mb/s.

Why is this?

Windows 7 64bit
8gb ram
Q6600 @ 3.2 ghz

Copying from
SEAGATE BARRACUDA 500mb 7200.12 16MB CACHE
to
Samsung SpinPoint F4 EcoGreen 2TB SATA-II 32MB Cache

Have you enabled write caching?

Device Manager - right click on hard disk and select properties - Policies tab and enable write caching.
