Hi,

I have a 99 Ford Focus 1.8 Lx with some real nasty 14" after market hub caps on, it really spoils the look of the car. I've found a set of 15" ford focus alloys from a Ghia that I want to put on, is there anything I should consider or be aware of when upping the size of the wheel ?

Hey! I have the steelies with Ford hubs, I think they are rather nice :D

Bigger wheels generally means more rubber on the road, so increased grip. Alloys should also be lighter, mean a lower unsprung weight and therefore it might improve handling. Be aware though, in some cases, alloy wheels are actually heavier than the steels they replace. Im not sure if that's the case for the standard 15" Ford ones. If it is, let me know :D

Hello matey, cheers for the reply. I wouldn't mind if they were the standard ford 14" steelies, but the previous owner put some real nasty aftermarket hub caps on it. Could just replace them with ford hub caps, but it seems getting a set of 15" focus alloys isn't too much more expensive.

lol :D

I like the standard hubs, because they are just plain. I hate the ones which try to look like alloy wheels. At least mine are honest :P

How much are the alloys going to cost?

around £100-150 for a set of 4 with half decent tyres on, second hand of course. Plus the cost of picking them up.

The hub caps on their right now are exactly as you say, they're supposed to look like 5 spoke alloys, but just look real cheap. It would have put me off the car if it wasn't so redicously cheap.
