Biggest Impact...

I was intending for mainly transfers to be brought up simply to remind us all of the achievements of certain players at clubs in the past and the impact that the correct or inspired single transfer can have to change the fortunes of any team.

Again Zola. Bought in late '96, FA Cup winner in '97 & '00 & League & European Cup Winners Cup winner in '98, after no silverware at Chelsea for @25 yrs. He has been instrumental in transforming a club which was always 'also rans' for a long time, into a club which genuinely expect to win honours (of sorts) now.

He did well the first year, and i bet you didnt say that when he scored two pasts leeds and we won 4-0

Yeah, I thought he was well and truly world class.

Though not half as good as Viduka who created and scored 4 at Shamfield :)

I think you'll find he scored four at your effort of a ground gilly :p

I apologise, I just remember Berger celebrating in front of a bunch of ugly people with perms and tache's with pink/purple shellsuits on when they scored :p

But still, he got all 4 and your entire team could only get 3 :)

i dont remember berger celebrating in front of a load of woolybacks... :p

I do, they'd travelled a long way from Liverpool so let's not forget em (bear in mind that a woollyback is someone from just outside Liverpool...)

I wouldnt say a woolyback was someone from outside liverpool, to me all you yorkshire fellas sound the same as the people from places like wigan etc

Well all the Woollybacks at work come from Wigan, St Helen's, etc. Woollyback area stops as soon as you get towards Manchester...

Okay, what about Dugarry for Birmingham? I reckon if it wasn't for him, they'd have had gone down this year

The most impact over the last 10 yrs has to be cantona, with out a doubt, he started the mancs current domination of the english game, he got all the young lads up to a level which has been simply outstanding.

Imo eric had a very profound effect upon the mancs, maybe as much as taggart:p

I heard, now im not sure how true this is. That souness had the chance to sign cantona before he went to leeds, he was getting told to sign him by platini..?

I wouldnt put it past souness at that time

Cantona, of course.

Leeds buy him, they win the league, Man Utd buy him, they go on to dominate for the next decade.

To Leicester, Martin O' Neil ;) Izzet or Lennon.

I remember Cantona at his previous club to leeds..can't remember which actual club it was tho.. but he'd just got given a yellow card for a foul.. then said to the referee " prepare the red one!!!"... five minutes later he was promptly sent off for another foul. What a character.
