Pretty much topic.

This is not a "ps2 was better than xbox" it is about the generational jump. So the xbox is competing against the 360 itself kind of.

Allow me to give an example:

The order for generations is:

NES: Master System
Genesis (megadrive: SNES
Saturn, PS, N64.

Which of those had the biggest jump kind of thing. Though I use the above only as an example I meant overall the biggest jumps? Not just about graphics here, storage, control, innovation, and everything else that makes a games console fun count...

SNES/MD > PlayStation era was the biggest jump IMO.

Probably the only time I've been truly amazed at a games graphics was when I played Wipeout for the first time (and Gran Turismo later in the PSone's life)

yeah same here, never been impressed with pre PSX 1 console graphics (apart from shoot/beat ups as way ahead of PC's) with Wipeout and GT far better than PC graphics at the time.

The biggest jump was the dreamcast. Who can forget that Sonic intro for the first time?

My mouth was literally on the floor for that entire game.

I know its not next gen but I feel it almost is!

360 to PS3 !!IMO!!

...after playing Resistance Fall of Man.

Im joking, Id have to agree with the majority, definitely generation 4 to 5.

I'm not sure about this as each of the generations included large jumps in some ways for example

SNES/MD had the multiplayer (4+)
N64/PS1/Saturn had the introduction of proper 3d, and analogue/digital combo pads as standard.
PS2/DC/GC/Xbox had the introduction of networking for all 4 systems.
360/Wii/PS3 seems to have built in storage for all the systems, and now it seems motion sensing.

I would say it's a tie between the Snes/MD generation to PS/Saturn, and the current and previous generation.

Snes/MD to PS because it introduced optical media and analogue controls.
Ps2/xbox/GC to current because now all systems have built in storage pretty much as a given, all have some form of networking, and the introduction of a new control method.

It was a definite step up, but we already had that kind of graphical quality in the Arcades, so (for me anyway) the wow factor was there but much less than when I first switched on a PlayStation.

Dreamcast soul calibre was a jump forward in graphics for me seeing it running for the first time I was like "woah". The ps1 was the biggest for me though, first play through tomb raider and GT was just awesome very cool knowing that it was the start of things to come as far as good 3d graphics on consoles.

Playstation was the biggest jump for me, as soon as I saw the F1'95 graphics and to top it off heard Murray Walker commentating my jaw just hit the floor, it seemed so real and immersive compared to anything seen before it.
