I'm out and about on the bike for the next 2 weeks, I'm picking out some routes but I would like a way to put them into my iphone.

Are there any apps out there that I can use with .mmo or .gpx files?

Cyclemeter or Strava can both handle routes but I don't think either will give you turn by turn navigation or anything like that.

With Strava you need to upload the file using the webiste but then it appears in your routes within the app.

^^ lol

The only reason I didn't just mention Strava in the above post, and I feel it's worth mentioning, is that there isn't anyway of keeping the screen from sleeping. There is in Cyclemeter but not in Strava. Most annoying when you have a handlebar/stem mount for your phone and want to actually use it as a cycle computer :/

just be aware when reviewing your activity that smartphone GPS isnt amazingly accurate compared to a dedicated GPS device.

side by side my iphone was a fair distance and elevation out compared to my garmin.

Depends on the phone and luck.
A friend had a garmin, which was supposedly very inaccurate, compared to his phone (not personal experience mind)

Thanks for those recommendations, I'll check them out.
Not expecting anything as good as a dedicated Natsav, but every little helps. :)

On another note, can anyone recommend a iphone 4 bike mount? Tried my local shops, but they didn't have anything for that model.

maybe depends on the phone but the specs on the GPS accuracy for the iphone are much lower. although environmental changes will affect all devices.

i forget where i found it but iphones are accurate to 5m and garmin to 2.5m.

my iphones have all been useless at retaining GPS signal for a duration of a ride.

This one is pretty great: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/topeak-ridecase-for-iphone-4-4s/rp-prod91996

I have mine mounted to my stem and it's rock solid. The only issue is that if you do have the screen on a lot it absolutely canes the battery life so watch out for that. If you're only going out for an hour or so it's fine, but any longer and you need to be careful how often you look at the screen. Or buy an external battery pack!

I'm probably going to eventually get a Wahoo RFLKT which acts as a dedicated, low power screen for a phone sitting in your pocket. Pretty pricey at £80 though.
