Raymond, what did you use to get your cogs that clean? :eek:

Or do you not use your bike for trail stuff?

Hose + Muc-off + brush + soapy water, then lots of water = Shiny !

I have to keep it clean as i keep it inside the house, else it'll ruin the carpet.

That pump is sound as ****! I had the stupid little plastic version,destroyed it. I replaced it with the more manly version and its taken a lot of abuse. Think ive got to 50psi in a 2.3" tyre with it without feeling totally dead.

not sure if its been mentioned but rubber medical type gloves are good when your working on your bike because oil etc can be a right arse to get of your hands and from around your nails etc

I like the pump you have ordered. Its the best ive used anyway. I end up really in some mess at work (7 repairs yesterday) and since i discovered swarfega(off the shelf at work) i dont need to go home like a coal miner now.

No no.....emmmmm thats my old hfx9 that needs an o-ring and reblead. Its an Xt left hand shifter,a deore left hand shifter,deore front mech and a saint chainring.

OK my stuff arrived this morning,Park mini brute chain tool, Park chainbright CB-2 citrus cleaner and Finnish line cross country wet lube. I put my chain in a tub with the degreaser in to soak for a bit then scrubbed the chain with an old toothbrush and then put some fresh cleaner into the tub. The chain is ciurrently soaking in the cleaner, i might leave it overnight as im not going to be riding for a bit as its thundering outside.

So after it has finnished soaking in the degreaser do i need to rinse the degreaser off?.

The chain tool worked a treat, took me less than a minuite to remove the chain, i was expecting it to be hard.

Wash the chain with water to get rid of grit, then degrease (scrub with the brush too), and then rinse with soapy water, and then rinse again with clean water. Then i let it dry out, and then grease.

Don't need to degrease over night, just get the brush in.

p.s. where did you get your stuff from? Can't find it on CRC.

Thanks for the info, i'll get it rinsed then after ive cleaned the cogs.

I got the cleaning fluid and lube from here CycleXpress they seem to be pretty cheap and have free delivery which is great for ordering small items when you need them.

I got the chain tool from ebay, came to £13.90 inc delivery which i didnt think was too bad.

Ive had to degrease it a few times as a white goo kept appearing on the links :confused:

looked like Vaseline or something. The only thing i can think of that it could be is that dry lube i used on it.

white goo? try warm soapy water and elbow grease.
