Exactly. I pay for specific bike insurance on our contents for a reason...

I also did think that in the film they use the floor as part of the leverage equation. If the chain is in mid-air or against the wall, I'd have thought it would be more difficult to swing on the croppers.

fair enough. id rather make it more difficult than 10 seconds with some croppers than have to faff around claiming and then waiting for a pay out minus excess

I'd like to know this, too. As long as there's an easy way to hose the bike down before I leave for work I'd imagine this would really deter potential thieves.

I think if I heard an angle grinder I'd assume someone was doing building work.

depends what time of the day it was and whether i knew my neighbour was still at work etc.

but like i say, fair enough.

I think if someone failed to cut your chain they would probably cut your frame in half just to show their anger lol.

True - I bet bolt croppers would go through my beloved carbon fibre with ease

I did have the thought that depending on how close the bikes could be hung, I might be able to use a single 2m chain and anchor. This looks like a beast of a chain:

It's only taken almost six months but finally, the bike hangers are fitted

I went with five SteadyRacks for the hanging. Mrs Chri5 asked why I put up five given we only have four bikes. I said it's for guest parking. Or, it allows for an N+1 purchase...

I went with the racks spaced 45cm apart, so there is some overlap between bars. However, what is trick about the SteadyRack is that they pivot, so really easy to get a bike out without banging bars:
