Bike test tomorow

Easy to say, but harder to do, "Relax".

Take your time, don't try to do anything special.

The hardest part I found was to slow control and the driven u-turn. But most examiners take you to wide roads to do the u-turn.

Take your time and make sure you have the revs nice and high and remember to control the back brake and keep your head all the way around to see where your going. Try not to look at the curbs.

Also whatever you do, don't panic if you make one mistake, try to forget it and carry on, you won't get failed just for one minor mistake, but if it stays in your mind your more likely to make a few more while worrying about the last.

Also, whatever you do, make sure you do your safety looks whenever you maneuver, especially when you are overtaking parked cars and then pulling back in.

But your probably aware of all this. I was nervous as hell and made a number of minor mistakes and passed first time.

As I said at the start, Relax, take it easy and enjoy. Just think of those months ahead of riding in the nice sunshine.

Off to Thruxton on my VFR750 on Sunday to enjoy the Superbikes. Once you've got your license tomorrow you want to treat yourself and go to a superbike race, nothing better then turning up and parking in a field of a couple of thousand bikes.

All the best

Take it easy, don't rush and NEVER forget your lifesaver looks. I passed first time and to be honest found it quite easy, although I did lose my instructor for about 10 mins of the ride and had to stop and wait for the slow coach lol. Mine also didn't even bother to give me a written completion doc so I have no idea whether I got any minors, just got told I passed.

Don't ride for the road, ride for the exam, failed my second test due to that, my examiner actually told me I did the right thing but he still had to fail me for it :(

You should have been told to ride as if the examiner doesn't exist other than a voice in your ear, which is true, however be aware that his distance from you can have an impact on how he will percieve things, my first test was a fail due to my examiner being unable to see that I was actually alongside a bus when it started to indicate :(

Try to be calm, my third test which I passed was a breeze, mainly because I was sure that I'd failed within five minutes of starting it, relaxed me totally for some reason :)

Good luck :)

Eat a banana an hour before - they actually help you to calm down.

Double check you have cancelled your indicators after every turn. If you dont, and you go past a turning with them still flashing its a major and therefore fail. This is especially easy to do when you stop for the u-turn.

On the u-turn, try and relax. Drag the back brake to aid stability, and, as said above, keep looking at where you want to go and the bike will follow. In the emergency stop cover the back brake so it looks like you're using it but rely soley on the front if its dry - much less likely to accidently lock up.

Good luck with it :)

Good luck,

don't do what I did, day before test get knocked of by a women running a red light, then fail purely on hesitating, because a lorry flashed me to get out :(, wasn't impressed as the lorry driver was only telling me he was there ;)
