Bike training what path did you take?

I went the Cbt 6months on a 125 and the DAS mod 1 & 2. To be honest I think the 125 experience will teach you how to use and control a bike better than jumping on a 600cc for your first time. I also feel that the resale value of 125's remains the same. You won't lose money selling it on if you haven't trashed it!

People are saying that CBT doesn't prepare you for safe riding; I can agree with this to a certain extent, but that said the DAS course makes you at the very best a "safe enough" rider.
There is so much more to safe biking than is tested in MOD 1 & 2, and people saying that that is the end point of their training is worrying.

In summary I think both routes are acceptable, no doubt the extra experience gained from a few months on a 125 would not go amiss. The most important thing is continuing your training post DAS with an IAM or Rospa advanced rider qualification!

I was 35, had no bike experience (other than mountain biking), did my CBT then DAS and first bike was (and still is) a GSXR600 K5

Just had the suspension properly set up for me at the weekend, although the weather was rubbish so not had a chance to ride it properly yet but it definitely feels better, so it is worth getting it done

Do you need to purchase a bike to take the Mod 1 + 2 tests?
I would be pushed for finances to get afford a bike, insurance and relevant start up gear by the end of the year to avoid the new restrictions next year. :(

Anyone think that after the 2013 regulations come in the secondhand 125 market will take a dip?
