Bill Gates email rant about Windows Functionality

... and shouldn't need to know the technicalities either, especially when doing a usability review. Nor would one expect an internal mail to be in perfect English. That's why there are these people called 'Personal Assistants', to do the clean-up work. Indeed I've seen this sort of thing from our own CEO - an email got sent out by a manager before the clean-up happened, and then the cleaned-up one followed a day or two later.

You have to bear in mind that Bill Gates was originally very much a stereotypical nerd, not a professor of English.

I don't know if it's real or not, but it could be. If it is, then good on him for taking people to task.

Its obvious to me at least that he is writting from the perspective of the average joe public in order to give constructive feedback. Theres no reason why this couldnt be from him, i dont understand these "hes not that stupid" comments, do you think people in offices talk in technical jargon and press release speach all the time?

Hell ive had emails from people pretty high up in Virgin that read like a mates conversation down the pub...

Strange, because the whole email reads like something Simon Cowell would write - syntax, tone, lack of americanisms in the whole email, With no signature I'd say the author sounds like high school educated, self employed mid forties guy running ringtone website from Brighton.
And then we get to the bit where "Bill" clicks on the page and he gets popup with "Open file" and "Save file" and he allegedelly has no clue what to do. Now, for a guy who was designing his fully remote controlled, automated, bio signature rekognising e-home at the time, not knowing what to do when a file is being downloaded off the page, is fetched so far, it's not even in the vicinity of Redmond.

But that's just my opinion.

The idea is he's looking at it from a user's perspective, not from his. According to one of the sources posted, Bill Gates even commented on the email saying 'there's not a day goes buy where I don't send an email like that'.
