binge drinking

It's about a culture shift not higher taxes or age limits. Start educating people about alcohol at a younger age like with all drugs. Bars shouldn't serve these people so much either although that's hard to enforce.

Most of the people in that video looked 21+ so how will banning drink for <21 help plus we'll probably just end getting alcohol underage easy anyway. Upping the price of alcohol? uhhh ... isn't that unfair on the people who don't commit crimes and drink is expensive over here anyway? Banning alcohol? ... what, are you high or stupid? :)

I don't think it's getting worse, it's been awhile since I've seen any major outbreak in violence I just think that police need to continue patrolling dense areas and should a problem or ourburst arrise they can deal with it quickly before someone gets hurt.

Also Asda sell 35cl vodka for £3.60 (37.5%) which is small enough to carry in your pocket and cheap enough for mwwooorrree. Few of these and you'll be like ants at a picnic.

It's down to sort the policing out, one of my mates gets hospitalised for 5 months, they caught all the scumbags who did it, none of them even got a written warning.

It doesn't matter if a pint costs £1.50 or £3, people are still going to buy it, it's the mentality of chavs and idiots who think they're tough if they cna beat a granny up in a group. You don't beat up anyone for no reason, especially if there is no reason for it and especially if they haven't a chance.
It's just wasters with bad parenting who need locking up, as well as their parents half the time.

It's nothing to do with cheap booze, i drank loads at uni, i had a near death experience with white lightning, i think other people should try it, i loved it, shouldn't take it away from those who genuinely can't afford fancy booze.

Start dealing with the underlying issues that cause people to go and get smashed out of their skulls in the first place rather that treating the symptoms once it's too late.

Increase age to 21, (tax slightly more), ban adverts like what was done with cigarettes.

IT WONT WORK, do you seriously think if it was that simple it wouldnt have been done!!!!!!!!!!!!! (kids still smoke!!!!!!!!!!!) i'm not saying i know the answer but the age wont makje a difference, once an idiot always an idiot

Okay ban it altogether then, disgusting substance:p

Increase the age - Useless.
Increase the cost - useless.
Change the license hours / bar locations - Useless.

Its just like guns. Put booze in an idiots hands, and you still have an idiot - only a bigger idiot.

It's the way the UK is going as a society that needs changed. Statistically there are more morons in everyday nightlife than there were 10, 15 or 20 years ago.

If we banned booze altogether, the dregs of society would only turn to speed or coke, and then then there would be real problems - just like in Columbia or Mexico. The people in the video are violent neandethals with no upbringings. If you take away the booze, they would still be agressive.

There is no easy solution - unless you sterilise all the chavs churning out 8 sprogs and not teaching them anything about life or love. Do you really think it boils down to alcohol ? I drink more than most people I know. I have never been in a fight, never thought about punching someone while drunk... and I can't see why people get agressive while tanked up.

Make drink more expensive, so people can't get ****** on a tenner.

Increase the price - no matter how expensive you make alcohol people will still pay it. A decent night out here can easily surpass £100.

Increase the age - Most of *** bother around here seems to come from people of the age 21-25, so unless you fancy upping the limit to 30 its pointless.

Change the license hours / bar locations - Again, pointless, must clubs still kick out around 2 here anyways.

IMO we need to have more active policing in heavy drinking areas where you would expect a fight or problems for a start. Second, the police need to be able to send people home if they are thought to be a threat, not once they become one and end up in a jail cell for the night, and more police would be nice, im fed up of seeing rent-a-cops all the time, they are treat like a joke in Newcastle therefore they are not feared at all.

Binge drinking is down to social education, on the continent the legal age to consume alcohol is lower.

In this country drink is a bit of a taboo in the sense that it is made glamorous by the act that you can't have it until your 18.

In France you can drink at 14 at is a something that is appreciated with food, not a tool to get you wasted.
