Biodiesel users?

Hi,

Basically a place down the road sells Biodiesel at around 113.9p (so 8p cheaper than regular diesel).

I've checked the hand book with my car (2000 Octavia 1.9TDI SLX Estate) and it can accept it. The manual suggests that it will make the car slower and use more of it.

I wondered if there were any users out there and could tell me there experiences. Should I empty the tank of regular diesel first?

Thanks,

M.

I ran a mix in my ZX diesel, about 50/50.

I don't think it's worth it for an 8ppl differance, up here it was 105.9 and definately worth it.

Never heard of biodiesel having a worse MPG that pump fuel, or make it slower. It's got a fractionally higher cetane rating, so if anything it should improve not worsen.

Just be ready to change the fuel filter a couple of times when the biodiesel strips all the crap out of your fuel lines/filter.

I noticed no differance other than the smell :)

You will need to change the filter 3 or 4 times before it stops stripping the crud out of the lines. I did mine after 500 miles then 1000, 2000 and 3000 and each change made a differance.

In the winter you will find the car harder to start and it will struggle until it's warmed through. Biodeisel is thicker and waxes sooner than fossil diesel.

Thanks for the advice guys. The car-manual suggested that it would give worse MPG / performance but I guess that was written 8 years ago.

I guess keeping it half and half is the best way?
