My question: What makes food 'repeat' on you?

What I mean is some people complain that when they eat certain things it makes them burp a bit and they get that food dominating the aromas of their burp. You don't need much of it either, some people it's red onions, some it's garlic, some it's green pepper. I just scoffed a large donner kebab with chilli sauce and all the salad. I only ate two pieces of the cucumber but ate everything else yet I'm belching strong cucumbery fumes. What causes that?

Doesn't just eating fast(scoffed suggested this) cause extra air to enter the stomach, and thus be forced to leave?

Not 100% but I swear I heard something along those lines on a healthy eating program my mum was watching.

You might have a piece of cucumber stuck in your nose. Taste works on smell, therefore when you burp/rush air past it, then you'll "smell" it.

do you have a long, slightly curved green object lodged in your nostril? If so, this may explain the smell of cucumber.

Note, if this object has a variable speed setting knob on the end, then the smell of cucumber is the least of your worries.

:p

On a similar note, do you 'pass' the same amount as you eat.

i.e If I ate 1kg of toast, would I pass 1kg of stool? Obvioulsy some gets stored as fat but is that negligible?

I have no real knowledge on the subject but im guessing with most foods some of the content is water or even gets removed with urine. That would probably make the proportion of food that gets excreted via stools variable depending on what it is. Something like a banana for instance is mainly water so you would probably ****(sweat and even breathe?)most of the banana away.

If you're a couch potato who eats loads and doesnt do a damn thing a lot of the toast could get turned into fat, i suppose that would be dependant on how active you are. Im not even sure what the body does with the nutrients in the food that gets used, i presume they dont just vanish and instead go out the other end like everything else. Some could also be used to repair/build muscle and skin

errr, no? why do poeple eat food? for Energy. a large proportion of the food you eat is broken down and converted into energy for immediate use, sugar for short term use or fat for long term use.

ie, Carbohydrates in Toast --> Sugar in body --> energy in Muscles --> Water + Heat.
