Bionic Commando Video Reviews Are Up

Two completely opposing reviews, and from watching the gameplay footage I'm inclined to side with the first.

Add to the fact that that the first review actually gives a balanced opinion, whereas the second just basically talks about how 'awesome' the arm is, and says stuff like "the multiplayer is just an add-on to the single player, but that's really all you need" - well no, it isn't. How the hell he got his job is anyone's guess.

To be honest, it looks pap :(

I got the PS3 version, the game is very decent. Rather hard but just very good looking. It feels very satisfying, but not a perfect game by half. I ordered this from an on-line retailer and got a nice figurine for free :)

I'd love to play this on a 50+ inch screen, that swing mechanic on the tall buildings would feel awesome..

better delete the shops name. competitor talk is a no no.

Cheers mate, and edited.

The controls are pretty good on this game, just played through another level, but the swing attach mechanism is rather annoying because it was locking on the floor etc.

I personally think that Bionic Commando looks shocking, I'll be giving it a miss. :p

The gameplay or Graphics? If its the latter, it looks far smoother than Infamous, the sprawling city landscapes are impeccable. On Infamous I saw a fair bit of jaggies and copious pop in. I know that its just the demo, but just saying.

I played it for a bit and got quite frustrated. Not being able to reach things when swinging so dying.Getting killed ridiculously quick by the enemies.
I'll play it better and for longer in a bit but so far i'm not that impressed.

Its crap :/

Utterly criminal design decisions destroy the genuinely fun swinging about killing baddies from up high n grappling goodies

Gives false impression of free roaming. Its utterly linear - depart from the path even a little and lethal radiation = almost instakill

Its very dumb. Sorry :D i mean it hand holds you throughout.

Actual fight and control mechanics are pretty good - easier to get to grips with than i expected it would be. (tutorial is simples)

graphics and sound are decent only occasionally being very good. Ive still to try Infamous so cant compare to it.

Why offer the appeal of open world gameplay and attaching/swinging to any surface if in reality its not that at all.

(though tbh you can grapple most things you would expect to its not like you can grapple only preset buildings etc)

its not totally crap - not as bad as when i bought Mercs 2. If you can put up with the restrictions and concentrate on the jump n fight mechanics (which are enjoyable) then its ok.
Good concept not fully realised and also bad timing of its release imo.

I personally don't judge a game on merit, I judge it almost exclusively on how much fun I have when I play it. Bionic Commando just doesn't look like a game that I'll have a lot of fun playing, obviously I won't write it off until I've played it, but that won't be for a while.

I've played it for a bit now and think it's rubbish.
Quite simply it's just annoying.
The swinging mechanism is crap.Half of the time you can't see where you're supposed to be going. You see somewhere to go,get there and die because of radiation. Then start miles back.
I'm trading it for infamous on friday.

it looks like capcom have used the grappler from lost planet and most of the targeting system and put it in a crap game. I'm always very picky and this from the start looked boring.

I'd wait for LP2 looks amazing!

i've just finished this yesterday, probably gave me about 10-12 hours gameplay on normal mode. was a good game, i thought, but was let down by the end boss as he was surprisingly easy.

only gripe with the game as people have said is the radiation is stupid and having to start over again, but once you get used to swinging it becomes pretty easy.

p.s - for anyone looking to get easy achievments this game is it, finished the game on normal and did all but 4 achievments, 2 of these were the harder diffcultys and the hardest one finding all the collectibles.

Thats the sort of review I like, short and simple to the point, something about achievements and time taken. (I'm impressed)

Anyone know any sites like this? I hate reading massive blocks of text about a game I'm not really interested in.
