Mobo is msi b450 tomahawk max

current bios Version 7C02v32 Release Date 2019-09-02

I went through a stage of updating my bios as soon as a new one was released and a couple of them caused blue screen crashes, or lets say i suffered blue screen crashes after a bios update, so i reverted back to the last stable one as above.
However there have been several more bios releases and i would like too ask if its really worth updating the bios again the latest one been 8/2/2021 is there anything to be gained, if my system is running ok?
 
I have the same board. I updated mine for better RAM compatibility (xmp wasn’t working for me) and it fixed the issue. The latest one adds support for resizable BAR if you have a compatible graphics card.

If your system is running fine then there’s not really a need to update.
 
I had V35 running fine recently till I updated to the beta one which has now been removed just before Xmas for 5000 series support.

V37 seemed ok but my memory wasn't stable at the previous manual settings so I went back to V35, I didn't like V39 at all but have not tried the most recent one as I'm waiting for agesa 1.2.0.2 before updating again as its a lot of messing about with settings and stability testing.

The most noticeable thing you gain IMO going from V32 is faster boot times, mine went from 24 > 17 > 14 > 10.5 over the various updates I tried. The latest one would be worth trying though if you have a 3000 series GPU for BAR support or if you're planning on upgrade to a 5000 series CPU soon.

While some bios versions are better than others I've never actually had a bsod without altering something from stock and I've tested most of the bios released for this board at one point or another so maybe worth looking into more, what was the stop code?

My system is not overclocked
cpu is ryzen5 3600
 
Try running a memtest to make sure there's no errors also try Running Windows system file checker to make sure no files are corrupted.

BIOS updates are potentially dangerous. You can brick your PC. They should only be carried out to cure a specific problem.

That may have been the case years ago but on modern motherboards with bios flashback you can recover a bricked bios so very little to worry about these days.

That isn't true on all boards. Unless you have that facility, you should be very careful.

Only upgrade the bios if you have any issue with the current one.
