Bios battery removal

Just a quick question I've got a Dell lappy which is password protected to get into the bios (so cannot change the boot order) and there is also another bios password you must put in to boot from the ide as a quick solution i was just going to strip it down and remove the bios battery. (hopefully resetting everything)

Are they the same on laptops as desktops?

that will work, just be really carefull taking it appart, you can easily break tiny plastic tabs etc.

Also do it somewhere really tidy!! its typical to loose bits when doing that sort of stuff!!

There is plenty software out there that will reveal your BIOS password.

Google for it - Hiren's BootCD seems to come up a lot.

Make sure the software is legit though.
