Bios battery

Mate has given me his pc to 'fix' he said it had stopped working and someone at work told him to swap bios battery! Now he said he just got one from local fit store. Is this battery ok to use in a mb?

The pc powers up but I get no signal from the onboard VGA or any graphics cards I tried in it. Is the mb dead?

It's a foxconn mb with c2d chip not sure on speed

Any ideas as I don't want to buy new mb for no reason.

as long as its a cr2032 battery then yeah it is ok to use.

As long as the battery models are the same you can buy the batteries from where ever you like.

The computer should still post if the battery is flat, it just wont hold the settings in the bios. I'd try resetting the bios, then look towards the memory or cpu

I have cleared bios and tried various video cards so far to no avail.
