Having attempted the latest bios update for my xfx 790i ultra (p04) within windows through the nvidia control panel, i've had to RMA my board
i am currently awaiting a replacement from the retailer, however on receiving the new board i would obviously like to flash to this bios as soon as possible as a i think the current bios its limiting my oc'ing ability amongst other things.
However i understand (according to nvidia control panel) that the old bios must be in its default configuration before the flash attempt. (i suspect this was the cause of the last board dying! )
I cannot get into windows with the bios in default as my ram requires the voltage to be set manually to 1.8v+ as the motherboard doesnt detect this automatically (OCZ are aware of this 'issue' but its 'not a fault'!!!).
Anyway the cheap ram i use to intially gain access to the bios so i can change the voltage to 1.8+ is to small (512mb) to load my vista x64 installation properly, so i'm stuck!
I cant load vistax64 with old bios in default to flash to the new bios,
xfx dont have a .iso file yet (have contacted their tech support re this, no response as of yet!)
Anyone got any suggestions?
could i use EVGA's .iso? the boards appear identical other than badges.
i also have a live-cd linux disc which i can boot with bios in default. Anyone know if i could use this with an appropriate app - suggestions? nvidia dont do software for linux so cant use their own!
cheers in advance!
