Hi guys ive never flashed a bios before and all bios flashing videos im seeing are with people already have the system running before. Im about to build new pc with my 3070 and r5 5600x and im gonna be using the msi gaming pro carbon x570. I understand how to get the usb ready clean usb place files in there make sure format is fat32 of the usb. My issue is when i build the pc is it okay for me to fully build the pc and have cpu in, do i boot the pc with the usb and press bios flash on the back of the motherboard its booting or do i boot it enter bios and do something from there.

Firstly I'd suggest testing components as you go with any PC build. If you build the entire oPC then find it doesn't boot or doesn't even power on, it'll be a nightmare to diagnose. Test just the motherboard and CPU with RAM first (in your case you'll need a graphics card too as it's Ryzen). You'll need to fit a cooler too.

So for the BIOS flash - you may as well do this at that early stage. If the motherboard requires a BIOS update to work with the 5000 series, then it won't boot until you do the update. So you'll need to use flashback. I think the point of the motherboard button is that you can do it without getting into the BIOS menu - the motherboard manual will tell you for sure.

Yep, MSI have the EZ Debug LED so it will at least say "CPU", "RAM" etc.

You may even find that the board is updated already if it's new - seems like 5000 series support came in 2 BIOS updates ago with AGESA 1.0.8.1

There may be a sticker on the box, there were for Ryzen 2000. If not, check for a sticker with BIOS version on. It may be on the box, or may be on the BIOS chip on the board itself. Compare it with the BIOS version on MSI's website which claims "adds AGESA 1.0.8.1"
