When we have a powercut and if the power comes back on then goes of again within about 2 or 3 secs, the bios resets to defult settings. Is there anyway I can stop this from happening. I have only 1 idea and thats buying a UPS

Strange.....bad motherboard battery? Or wouldn't it even start up if that was faulty?

Sorry I can't offer more help, but thats the first thing I thought of.

If it was the battery wouldnt the bios loose the setting when I turn the pc off by the plug?

Its so annoying having to change the settings after a powercut. The same thing happens if i turn on the pc within 2 or 3secs of turning it off.

Buy a new CMOS battery & see if problem goes.

If problem recurs (after changing battery), I'd seriously consider investing in a UPS/surge protector/etc because if the power-cuts is the cause, it will just take 1 good one to knock your system out for good!

if your getting power cuts thats go on and off within a 3 second duration i would get a ups otherwise you risk destroying your entire hardware.

So what UPS would you recommend, cos the ones that flick over to battery are no good, cos for a split secound theres no power and the pc will turn off?

Nope. Got a UPS here & when power goes it changes over so fast I don't think the PC knows what's happened.

If for rig in your sig, think you need something around or more than 650VA (400W), see http://www.apc.com/

I was thinking about getting 1 of these....."700Va - Liebert - Powersure Personal XT UPS"

Cos it looks quite small and will fit under my desk..Anygood??

Whats 700Va in watts? cos my pc alone uses a min of 200watt minimum and 340watts maximum when playing games. Plus I wouldnt mind to plug my z-680 speakers and router in there too, oh yeah plus my monitor
