Intel core i5-2500k @ 3.30

Kingston hyperx KHX1600C9D3/4GX 8GB Memory

Thermaltake Toughpower 750W psu

hi all

the last few days ive had an absolute nightmare with this pc.

ive had this running now for a few weeks at:

4.5 overclock - 1.32v core volt

memory XMP 1600 MHz - 1.650 volt

everything working great until a couple of days ago and now nouthing seems to work.

all of the overclocking options have dissapeared from the bios.
CPU Ratio cant be set more than 33
Target DRAM Speed stays at 1333MHz
No sign in the Bios of IGPU just dissapeared

if i set the bios to defult F5 the cpu speed goes upto 3700 MHz but if i run prime it drops from 3700 to 3411.
if i try to instal the i5 2500k graphics i get the error message:

This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for instaling this software.

if i try to instal VIRTU i get the error message:

No intel(R)SandyBridge Graphics Family Driver Device was found.
Check your BIOS and verify that your intergrated graphics is enabled.
virtu setup will now exit.

if i take out the GTX 570 and plug into any of the 3 graphics ports on the back of the motherboard i get no signal.
also my second graphics port has stop working if i put the GTX 570 into the second port the cards fan spins up but again no signal.

The pc runs without errors every thing else works fine.
i get no warnings no crashing no blue screens nouthing.

i have no idea if this is the motherboard or the procesor acting up any help would be much appreciated.

i have bios screenshots if need be.

Thanks for reading freinds.

Tried a CMOS reset? yes i have mate.
unplug the psu hit the on off button a few times to depleat any stored power.
move the bridge from 1,2 pins to 2/3 pins.
even tried takeing out the battery.

does this board have dual bios ? Is one of the bios wrong or corrupt ?
no it does not m8 , have no idea if its corupted.
i have tried to downgrade to an earlyer bios then update it again but no change.

Thanks for replys guys

when you cleared cmos did you remove the motherboard battery and leave it out a good 30 minutes? then put back in and try?

your parts should work fine, its a decent board tbh

visually inspected the cpu socket for any bent pins?

what power supply you using?

i even took out the cpu to reseat it and inspected the cpu and the motherboard socket.
took the motherboard out of the case to inspect the back as well.

stock cooler? no mate i have a Phanteks PH-TC14PE with 3 Phantek 140mm fans pushing out of the back of the case which also has a 140mm Phantek fan pulling out the back.
my case is a cm storm trooper its massive with lots of fans.
my temps were 29 stock 61 with Prime95 (64bit) for an hour.

Sounds like corrupt bios, I had this once when pushed OC too far had to order a new bios chip.

i do agree m8 but would that cause the a pci slot to stop functioning.
allso would it stop the igpu on the i5 2500k to not be recognised by thr os.

you can pull out the bios chip on that board and order another one pre flashed with latest bios

off fleabay,around a tenner

I'm not sure if it could stop the PCI slot from working, but my Igpu stopped working when my bios fried, it never worked again on that that board even when I got a new bios, not sure what happened there but everything else was fine after the new bios chip. As Wazza said there only £10 of the bay so its worth at try.

I had the same problem last year, it's likely caused by corrupt ME region.

You can fix this using FTK to reflash your bios. Follow this guide and either do the full flash or ME region only.

You shouldn't need a new bios chip.

Then along comes you... OMG! Dude you fixed it thankyou so much :D
ive been at this for two weeks wow :D
you really made my weekend and its only thursday :D
and all you outhers that gave me help Thankyou so much guys :D

Thankyou man really :D

That's great man, glad to hear you're back up and running.

This drove me mad at the time. I had the same issue with my RAM, only one channel worked, XMP had gone and anything above 1333mhz = no boot. As you said above iGPU settings vanished along with turbo multipliers too.

At first I thought it was the bios so I cleared, removed battery, left unplugged for a day, flashed, downgraded, upgraded - no joy.

Then I thought it must be the ram, so I tested each dimm individually. No problems there..

By this point i was seriously pee'd off.. I went and bought a Celeron to confirm the IMC of my 2700k was functioning correctly, comparing the two I had the same result.

I then made a RMA request, got the confirmation through and on the morning I was ready to post I found this.

Half an hour later, problem sorted - after about a week of going round in circles..

Happy times :)

It took all this to make me realise Asus EZ Flash and the tool's provided by Asus are the problem. Putting it simply.. They're crap.
