I originally had 3gb of geil ram in the computer, but its been playing up so ive just put some 2gb OCZ silver in there and getting the folowing error:

BIOS ROM checksum error keyboard or no keyboard present

:/

Help

Ok i removed a 1gb stick and no longer getting the problem..

Just put it back in and getting the error :/ DIMM slot or RAM broken?

It seems OCuK have shipped me a broken RAM stick :p

But my pc is so messed up on the current sticks :(

Is it wise to mix and match OCZ/Geil 1gb sticks?

well i reset BIOS, put in one stick on 1gb OCZ. loaded up windows but it was all fuzzy/blue dots everywhere and then it just bluescreened :/

Have you checked that the OCZ memory doesn't require more voltage? There's a chance they may not be getting enough juice as they may require more volatage to operate than the geil.

Also, have you tested the memory in a different slots?

I've tried all four slots, whenever i put the second OCZ stick in the PC just goes mad and bleeps at me.

Not checked anything abouit voltage no.

Got my PC to start, the resolution is now 800x600 and i cannot return it too 1400x900, its just not there on the slider :(

Try running the memory at 2.2v - some memory/motherboard combos just require that little bit more voltage, over stock, to work.

I can't access setup to even do that i think

Turn off you cod 4 hax

On a serious note, bit odd the ram affecting the res, any issues being flag in device manager when you get in?

Ok im in BIOs and on voltage control for ddr2 and it has two options..

AUto or 1.9v...

What is you motherboard?

If you're maximum is only 1.9v then you have found your problem - not enough juice.

An update to the latest BIOS may give you more settings - but i'll wait for your reply as you may have the options there and you're just not seeing them.

Googling manual and settings...

While i'm doing this look at your manual and see if it lists your max memory voltage - as it would be quicker.

It looks like it's highest setting is 1.9v and if it is that's why you can't get the OCZ to work - you're lacking 0.3v which is asking a lot for it to work.

You could try a BIOS flash - and see if they've included new settings...
