P5Q Pro - Bios help needed !!!!!

Hi Guys, wonder if you can help a noob thats used to amd but moved over to intel(today).I just bought an PQ5 Pro with a e5200 intel chip and i have G-Skill pc8500 memory.I am having problems setting this bios up as i am so used to my old nforce 4 board(crap at overclocking too).My pc is only seeing/using the memory at DDR800 and it should be set at DDR1066 default. I am kind of lost with this bios and too be honest i am not too good at these kind of things.Could someone please try and give me a little advice on how to get my pc more stable and running at DEFAULT for now using the latest bios which is 1613. Is this bios ok ? And which is the best bios to use with this board.I just want to get it running at DEFAULT, before i give it a bash and try to push this chip and board (with a little help , he-he). Thankyou so much, Paul.

Yeah the bios does that sometimes, even mine does, just set manual and leave everything else on default/auto but go into DRAM frequency and select 1066, its obviously just not picking it up right

Hiya, i just rebooted, went into the bios and went to DRAM frequency. The only options i get are as follows: DD2 - 401 mhz,480mhz,502mhz,533mhz,602mhz,640mhz,667mhz and 800 mhz, but thats it, it doesnt go any higher than that.By the way, how do i stop my multiplier from changing from x6 to x12.5 randomly, i cant find the option in the bios.Any idea's.Thanks

thats speedstep, C1E EIST, theyre options in the power management section, they declock your CPU when its not running at full load in order to save power, you can disable them so your multiplier remains at full, this is handy whilst OC'ing so you can see where you are, but for day to day use its best to leave them enabled
Your RAM is limited by your CPU, theres only so many multipliers the BIOS can use, you'll have to OC the chip, raise the FSB freq of the CPU and you'll be able to select higher RAM speeds. I take it your default is 200? try 250 and see how it goes

Thanks for that.I have disabled the speedstep for now, only becasue its annoying when trying to get system right. I have also put the fsb to 280, multiplier to 12.5 and upped the volts to 1.33v on the cpu, memory volts is 2.1.Its stable so far, as i only have stock cooling for now.If i go any higher my pc crashes, it seems stable.Do you think ive hit its limits for now, or is there something i should tune/tweek. Many thanks also, im having fun trying to melt my 1 day old pc,lol. :)

LOL
Not sure tbh, Ive never clock a 5200 before, your next step is to start bumping up your CPU and NB voltage to get it stable at higher OC's, just watch your temps (use coretemp not anything included with mobo), you prob will need a better cooler soon.
You can search the forum for other threads about the e5200, see what others got, just remember that each chip is different, just because someone got it to X doesnt mean yours will, enjoy

Yes, i think your right about the cooler. As soon as i can get a better cooler then i will invest in one.Im just tweaking and messing for now, trying to get my head around this bios and what it can do.Very confusing, but i will get there with the help of others :) Thanks for your advice, i really appreciate it....

Yes, thats what i thought. When i choose 533mhz my pc will not reboot.I know my memory is 1066 mhz as default.I am aware that i only have a e5200, but my motherboard refuses to run my memory at default speed and only says its 800 mhz, which is 400mhz in the memory menu.So im missing out on 133 mhz each channel on my memory. Well, i think it works like that from what im reading on the forum.Any ideas ?

I think so. It says 2.0 to 2.1 volts on the packet. So i put it to 2.10volts. Is this correct and will this help me instead of having the optin on AUTO? Many thanks....
