Ok forgive my ignorance but i dont know this usb method, so i take it that the bios software download comes with instructions on the procedure. Or could someone explain the procedure.. thanks guys

Usually in the manual, however all you are doing is effectively replacing the floppy with a USB stick, and booting from the USB stick.

My Asus P5W64 Pro motherboard has an option in the BIOS to upload a file from a USB stick so even easier.

We do bios updates via USB at work everyday...literally.

It's no different than booting to a floppy drive A: prompt, and running a batch file from there :)

As long as the usb stick is bootable of course, but theres programs on the web that you can get to do that if it isn't.

If you have an ASUS board, the USB stick doesn't even need to be bootable. (on some at least)
If you want to make a USB drive bootable, look here.

Saying what board it is makes it even easier for us to help you!
