I just flashed my BIOS with the wrong upgrade and it's all gone pete tong. I have an NF7S 2, but I flashed it with the wrong BIOS file and it wouldn't boot.

I realised my msitake and download the correct file, but when I use awdflash it says it's not an award bios. The wrong file has installed a Phoenix AwardBIOS.

Any ideas? I'm totally screwed if I can#t get it sorted. :(

Even though it says its the wrong BIOS, force it anyway.

I have come across a few BIOS updates that say this and if I am 100% sure its a good un then I will force it.

Never had a failure yet.

I WONT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE IF YOU DO, BUT LOOK AT IT THIS WAY...

IF YOU ARE ASSUMING ITS A COCKED UP MOBO ANYWAY, WHAT YOU GOT TO LOSE?

Besides, its not totally screwed is it otherwise it would not get as far as to tell you its the wrong BIOS, cos you got to be able to use it to do that havent you?

Do it mate... Go on, I dare ya!

( Runs away and hides )

( Pssst... Has he gone yet? )

Quite suprised you've used the wrong BIOS but it still goes into recovery mode "but when I use awdflash it says it's not an award bios." so it's not dead?

Perhaps email award and ask for a force-flash flash utility?

What was the bios you installed on the machine and what bios are you trying to force onto it now ?

ive its still some version of the nf7 bios on the machine it may be possible to launch the built in bios flasher. Alt-f2 i think on the post screen (but it should say) and then it will look for and find the bios update on a floppy and attempt to force flash.

There's no point updating your BIOS unless there is a feature you need which if you don't upgrade is a show stopper.

rubbish lol. the later bios's on the nf7-s were far more stable, with more accurate temps and better overclocking potential (except the very early, but unstable, bios's). infact thats usually the case for every piece of hardware.

updating a bios isnt a taboo. Just make sure your using the right one;)

Bios also contains updates to the cpu microcode, which are tiny software updates which 'fix' or work around processor errata, so sometimes a bios update will fix a problem you didnt even realise you had.

All sorted now, but I installed NF7S2 instead of NF7s V2.0. Easy mistake to make I thought, but one I wont make again!
