So, I need to upgrade the BIOS in my Gigabyte GA-x48-DS5 and this is the first machine where I don't have a floppy drive avaliable to boot from. What's the quickest way to boot into DOS to run the flash program?

Don't need a bootable USB. Use the Q-Flash built into the motherboard BIOS and then just access the new BIOS file on the USB.

**Edit**

End key at boot I think.

Use Q-Flash, just put the BIN file on the USB stick.

Enter Q-Flash by either pressing <End> key during the POST or pressing the <F8> key in BIOS setup menu. May be different for your board.

Links in a sec.

All sorted. I haven't done a BIOS upgrade in so long. Q-flash worked fine, except for killing my boot sector. Fixboot sorted that though :)
