Bioshock, hmmph

Haters put ya Hatorade down

Bioshock rocked and the 2nd one :D and infinity will too :D

I thought only person who didn't like bioshock 1/2 was my good friend, and I really could not understand him...

One of the best games I ever played!:mad::mad::rolleyes::rolleyes:;):p:p:) and I played probably all games starting from 2007 :D

Just completed Bioshock 1.

I have to say I really didn't enjoy it. I like the overall idea and the setting, but the implementation was very lacking.

I found the combat highly repetitive. None of the weapons were particularly fun to use, and it was easy to run out of ammo. a lot of the enemies you faced are just annoying rather than fun to fight.

The hacking mini game also became highly boring very rapidly.

By about half way through the game was becoming a real drag. But I decided to persevere and get it completed. Partly to justify to myself the massive number of games on my steam account! I certainly would never be interested in playing the sequel, as I have no wish to ever step foot in Rapture again.

I had the opposite experience of Biochock, loved it and still remember it fondly. As for the weapons not being fun to use, I thought setting people on fire, and freezing them and using all the other plasmids like cyclone's was excellent fun - a lot more fun that run and gun, so I always had loads of ammo.

Some of the levels were masterful - Fort Frolic is one of the best levels I've ever played, in any game - with different endings within the level itself. The setting, the music, the artowrk and Sander Cohen was a great character, there were parts that were genuinely disturbing. That level was made by the same designer that made that epic Thief level: The Cradle.

I think a lot of people blasted their way through the game and missed a lot of the subtleties, it's not a typical first person shooter but it's clearly not for everyone - it's not like other FPSs nowadays, although for some of us that's a good thing. I remember PC Gamer gave it around 95% so I'm not the only one who got it, and as I recall there were two or three standout moments in the game that I just haven't experienced in other games. Each to their own.

i really enjoyed Bioshock - no. 2 was too much of the same, which made it more of a slog than enjoyment.
I loved the atmosphere and artwork and although the game mechanics weren't that great, they did their job.

The problem with a game like Bioshock is depending on how long you've been gaming it's not hard for it to feel unoriginal.

If you played games like Deus ex, System shock 1/2 or even things like Thief: The Dark Project or NOLF, you'd find a game like Bioshock to just feel like the same thing with a new coat of paint.

Bioshock is a good game but it, like many games over the last few years, doesn't do much (if anything) that is new.

Yeah this is exactly how I feel about it

Personally I liked them both. The setting, storyline, the voice acting, graphics, sound and level design.

I've re-played 1 a few times.

was the second any good?

I enjoyed it more than the first.

I keep meaning to play through the first again to see if my feelings are any different. I quite enjoyed the storyline, actually thought it was rather good, just as someone else said, the respawning enemies ruined it a bit. I don't recall that being as bad in the second.

First game was good, enjoyable. Story was quite fun to follow.

2nd one wasn't as enjoyable but the combat is better. Minerva's Den DLC is very good though.

Its a boring game, I bought it for £2.49 in a steam sale a couple of years ago, even that was too much.

Love bioshock, rapture is such an atmospheric and interesting environment, it's what made the game. Can see why you might not like the gun play but the atmosphere of the game more than makes up for it, story was interesting too and I personally didn't see the twist at the end coming.

Second one was unnecessary though. New one looks like it should be good.

Personally, Bioshock has ot be the greatest game I've played recently, but then it's all down to personal preference really isn't it?
