Bioshock problem

After completing it and leaving it in the cupboard for ages, I've dragged Bioshock out again for another whirl..
However, I complete the first level in the game where you're asked to start looking for Atlas' family, but on the next load screen, it just goes on and on and wont actually load the level...any idea what could be wrong?
It never had any problems last time I played it.

I had something like this once and I had to load a previous save and just re-do a bit of the last level. It's a bit annoying but you can run through pretty damn quick once you know what you're doing.

(Since then I keep about 10-20 save slots per level)
