Bioshock to be a trilogy.

There was a twist?? Wow - you all clearly had loads more patience than me....

If you even vaguely knew the story to SS2, it was obvious how Bioshock was going to pan out ;)

Still, I don't think the last parts were rubbish.. just less awesome :)

Not *all* of the twist was that obvious. One 'half' of it was obvious before you even started playing, the other half less so :)

I've not played through bioshock further than the demo allows you to. I started playing the full game recently and didn't even get to the elevator before turning my console off.

Being the over-analytical idiot I am, I was looking around at everything, all the textures, all the meshes etc to see if there were any errors (a habit I picked up when playing around with Unreal Editor). Sometimes the lighting had no source or was incorrectly placed for the source, and when walking as close as possible to one of the walls I noticed one of the light fittings was actually not touching the wall. I find this sort of thing really disappointing as it's such an easily avoided error and as a result it shows a simple lack of basic quality checks. It means that the initial level designer didn't check it properly, his lead didn't check it properly, the lead designer didn't check it properly and the quality team didn't check it properly.

If they can't get the very first absolutely crucial part of the game correct, then I can't see how they're going to have done a decent job of the rest of it. Yes I understand that it's a very good game however I am almost certain that I would just walk around spotting flaws everywhere I look.

:edit: Yeah so I'm not holding my breath for the trilogy :p

From the various developer diaries/interviews it sounded as though they had to redo the level art several times, which no doubt led to the low quality 'craftmanship'.

I guess it comes down to what was the developers priority - gameplay, story and balance, or some graphical flaws? And then it comes down to what's more important to you? If you seriously can't look past some errors like this (and they're really not *that* bad, even if the game isn't perfect) then you'll be missing out on an enjoyable and in other areas a reasonably well polished game.

Yeah that's the problem really, the fact that I'm looking for it too much out of habit. I have no confidence in it due to the fact that they've slipped up at something that is so easy to do at such an early crucial stage of the game.
