I’m looking forward to following this year’s breeding season. The previous seasons were fascinating. :)

Has anyone got a recommendation on some cam capture software?
I had an issue last year in that the program I am using wasn't limiting the maximum folder size I set which ended up crashing the machine! I can do this manually if need be but am wondering if there is an alternative!

OK after putting the camera back on line 2 weeks ago I realised that the camera was goosed and as such was giving a wavey picture.

I have today installed a replacement camera and we are now rocking and rolling again.

I have updated the OP with a link to the live image that the camera catches which is about every 10 mins at the moment and will look at adding full streaming over the next few weeks when there is something more to see.

As with previous years we have started to get a bird coming into the bird box each morning around 10am. The visits are very short with a quick inspection and then they leave!

Will keep you updated when the action becomes more frequent and nest building begins!

How very interesting, is this something you've set up completely by yourself? I suppose money permitting you could somehow get a live low res webcam feed up, but then you would need a pay for a good server with good bandwidth right?

But looks interesting, will keep an eye on this one being a country boy myself

Yes it was all done on my own and not expensive at all.

The camera kit and capture card where <£60 and it's all connected to a spare PC in my garage.

The software I use is called cam wizard which cost £30

The software connects to the camera and takes a snapshot every 10 minutes. The small jpeg then gets uploaded from my o2 broadband connection to my web host www.tsohost.co.uk which runs ths bird-cam website.

The bird-cam.co.uk domian cost £6 for 2 years and I am running the clustered hosting package from tsohost so the web hosting costs are minimal.

If the software detects movement in front of the camera it sends me an e-amil attaching the video clip of what's triggered the camera firing.

The camwizard software has a built in http server which allows people to connect directly to the camera but I am struggling getting it running this year. Issues with opening ports on my router, and port forwarding, but I managed it last year so will continue to fiddle!

Well i guess if you get stuck at all , www.portforward.com has pretty much every router known and has detailed instructions on how to open/forward ports, but no doubt if you've already done it then it'll come back to you in no time!

There seems to be an issue with the actual webserver part of the app as I can't access it on the local IP so will do some more digging.

Thanks for the linky though.

Aww this was dissapointing i thought it was going to be a thread saying google had taken street view to the next level and had started strapping cameras to birds.

Hi wonder well i've almost setup my bird cam too :)

BUT having very big issues!

I went wireless IR cam for a start as getting cables + net connection would be a pain to get anywhere near a computer etc.

Once i had the camera have done testing to see the cam limit (how far it can go etc) works fine connected to a TV

today i recieved my capture card (Pico2000) atm had very little luck on making it work with any software i tried the Cam Wizard you use but it doesn't recognise the cam at all? yet its installed fine on Xp just totally stuck on what to do next .. also tried Ustream with no luck either
