Damn you birds! Came out of work yesterday and a bird had kindly **** all over my roof in 3 places. Cleaned it off when I got home and it's damaged the paintwork. Looks kind of bubbly and in the odd place there is what appears to be metal!!! Is there anything I can do? Evil things!

Seems like some interesting damage for a quick bird strike...

Have you properly washed it off? Pics?

lol I saw some 4wd range rover type thing driving through the city centre the other day and the roof was more white than black but the rest of the car looked almost brand new :D

I couldn't help but laugh

It's probably happened because of this heat we're having at the moment... it's not the poo itself that does the damage, but the lacquer cracking when heating/cooling differently than normal because of the poo!

Pretty sure the poo wasn't there the day before, but it may have been, I started work at 5am so was a bit sleepy! Max it's been there is around 46hrs, least about 12!

I work for a biggish company in the middle of the countryside. Our factory units are surrounded by trees, and as such we often get dive-bombed. Parking under a tree is a bad idea as it somewhat worsens the issue.

I'm not sure what the pigeons eat around here (guessing lots of acidic, wild fruit), but their poo takes less than a working day to visibly (and quite badly) mar the lacquer on my car (and other infuriated peoples cars too).

I managed to eventually clean up the aftermath of a 4 inch splat using a drill as a rotary polisher.

Birds? Sky-*******s more like.

Heat softens the paint making it more susceptible to chemical attack.

Heat speeds up the chemical reaction of the poo attacking the paint.

A bit of a lose lose situation really :(

Paranoid about the stuff now!

Haven't got the cash to get it sorted either at the moment! Will just have to wait! Grr it annoys me every time I get in as it just happens to be just where I can see it! Damn things!

I have a little circle about 1 inch on my roof that's slightly discoloured due to this stuff.

I hate the bloomin things, it's almost always the day after or same day you wash the car.

What wax do you peeps use because if bird poo is eating through then maybe you wnat more layers or a better wax :p

No paint stripping here in the heat! Yesterday 2 strikes wiped off after returning home and spotting them.

It doesn't eat through the paint, it's the differences in heat it produces that does it. Don't think wax makes any difference to that.

Certainly not had any issues on my car and that gets targeted by birds often.

20 years working with paint and I've never heard that one before!

I have a hard time believing it to be honest.
