Looking at taking the other half out for a meal in brum for her birthday and just wondering if anyone had any recommendations on hotels, there's plenty to chose from but it's always good to hear peoples experiences.
Looking at staying for a Friday and Saturday night, budget up to £200

Any help would be appreciated :)

If you're planning on staying in the city centre, you really can't go too far wrong from Malmaison, Radisson, or the Hyatt on Broad Street. Probably in that order too.

Hotel Du Vin is great too but can be a little out the way if you don't want to walk/taxi places.

I've stayed at the rotunda and the hyatt and both were great.

The 19th floor views over Birmingham were awesome on the night.

Yep I was looking around the city centre, I've checked out the Radisson and Hyatt. Haven't looked at the other 2 so will check them out thanks :)
My mrs isn't a big walker due to some foot issue or another so I'd probably be looking a taxis either way

Hotel Du Vin is good, so is Drury's.

Dependant on where in the city centre you want to stay, we tend to stop at the Briar Rose around German Market time. Which is on Bennetts Hill, great selection of pubs too :D

Yes it does :D I actually only live in Wolves so know Brum pretty well, just never needed to look at hotels before.
The place I'm going to book for dinner is in the jewelry quarter so hotel du vin is actually in the perfect place :D

You can usually get a pretty good deal on the Crowne Plaza, I think I paid something like £100 for Friday and Saturday night back in 2010. Nice hotel, too.

Perfect then, Du vin is lovely, great place to drink as well. If you're into your ales you have the Old Contemptables over the road and not far around the corner you have the Old Joint Stock, Bennetts, The Wellington to name but a few.

The bacchus (new street) is also a favourite one of mine. Such a lush pub!

The Radisson is always good. The higher up the better :)

Close to the Chinese part of the City Centre which has some delicious restaurants just over the road.

It was one of these rooms I stayed in last week

I found it quite good. Had all the facilities to cook a meal and whatnot. The views definitely sold it for me. The whole wall is class and opens fully floor to ceiling (which scared poop out of me so I kept back from the handrail lol )

You've just listed most of my favourite drinking places :D Bacchus is lovely! I also highly recommend the old post office vaults just opposite the town hall, brilliant selection of beers from around the world.

That's a bit out of my price range for the dates I need it unfortunately :( It does look like it would be great though.

I stayed in a place called "The Mint" last time I was there.

Not bad place really would suggest looking there. Location is alright for short walk into the main centre.

Thanks for all the recommendations guys, think I'm going to go with Hotel Du Vin. Looks great and is perfectly placed for everywhere we'll be going.

You can add the Post Office Vaults to that list of great pubs as well now as it's now part owned by the same bloke who owns the Welli ;) as well as the Real Ales they are specialising in foreign bottled beers and have about 300 :D
