ud4 mobo
4gb ram
gtx 460
850w psu
2 1tb drives
nzxt phantom
blah blah.............blaaaaaah.

i need your opinion on what is best for this system

maybe custom watercooling
sandybridge???
sli 460s??
ssd??
new monitor?
i have 200 euros so far im still saving and my mum n dad will chip in (cos im only 16)

any little helps??

I would probably go with a SSD or a second gpu.

Been using a SSD for a few months now and would not go back to a mechanical drive for Windows.

yes ive looked into it the most but will it help me more in apps programs etc. more than a i7 2600k

an i7 2600k is going to cost you a lot of money and you won't get a dramatic increase in performance from that i5 you have. You'll need a new motherboard as well as the processor. You'll be looking at close to £400.

+1 for SSD.

SSD or a new HD monitor. You can get a full HD BenQ monitor for around £140. I have the 24" one of theirs. Looks stunning with games and blu-rays :)

Sandy Bridge upgrade won't be a massive difference from current setup. SSD would make a noticeable performance difference with the snappiness of windows and loading times of games stored on it. I'd probably upgrade to a bigger monitor with a higher res too

sooo ssd or monitor?
I am 16 too mate and although a lot of people have said go for the SSD I would have to say the opposite. They are great pieces of kit but for the price tag considering our age and we don't (well, at least I don't) have an income I personally think it would be a waste for the price. My vote goes for a new monitor. I have been running dual displays (well, technically triple as my mac and PC both have a monitor each and share my U2410) and I will never ever ever go back to a single monitor. It is so useful having the extra screen real estate and also it looks sick on your desk ;). But seriously though, I think you would find a new monitor much more useful than an SSD (and also SSD prices are falling rapidly so I would wait for a bit until the become more affordable).

Just my opinion :D

personally, yes, but only because i have used great Iiyama monitors before and a really dissapointing samsung one. best with monitors to get views of people who have actually used them though imo

i'm not really up on specific monitor specs tbh

SSD's make a huge difference to your performance for anything that runs from them, far greater then any other upgrade you could currently do.

Plus, I would like one of these people who keep saying SSD's are dropping in price rapidly to actually show me one thats much cheaper now then it was 6 months ago etc.

I bought my 60Gb OCZ Vertex 2E about 8 months ago for £90 and it is still retailing at £100 with occasional offers at £90 now, along with pretty much all the other high performance SSD's of similiar capacity.

Seeing as the OP has the budget for an SSD and a monitor, then he doesn't need talking out of his SSD upgrade IMO.

does a sandybridge i7 have any real big avantage in rendering editing etc. than my i5

stupid question obviously the i7 wins but by how much?

and farmer i get what your saying its probably what ill do in the end

Im sure one of the review websites somewhere will have some sort of comparison between an old i5 and a new i7. Or if not, then you will definatly find an old i5 vs i7 comparison, and then an old i7 vs new i7 comparision to try to get some idea of what extra performance it will offer you.

What do you use your pc for as that will pretty much dictate if you need the extra power of a new i7 vs an old i5?

And also for monitors, let me throw the 25" Hanns.G into the mix, its on this week only currently for less then £140....
