I have just upgraded my pc and now have the following specs

MB - Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R
CPU - I7 920 D0 Stepping 2.66ghz
Cooling Asus Triton 81

I have re-seated the CPU and cooler twice and with no overclocking at all the temps all hover around 39 - 43 which seems a bit high for a non standard cooler. What really confuses me is that the voltage showing in CPUID is only .928 and I haven't altered anything. Also if I run Prime the fan doesn't seem to get any faster under stress.

Any ideas would be really appreciated

Thanks

Paul

Is the fan plugged into the PWM(I think it's called) fan header? I made this mistake a while back, I was a bit worried whem my zalman was running at 670rpm... :)

Idle temps are fine, what are your full load temps.

Which software are you using to monitor temps, your low vcore is probably due to speedstep.

The fan should connect to the 4 pin cpu fan connector beside the cpu, the fan may not increased to due cpu temp may of been within excepted limits.

The fan header which is just above the ram slots is the one you should be plugging into.

I tried prime to see how it ran without overclocking and the temperatures were pretty high, around 65-70 even popping up to 80. That seems a bit on the warm side. Just wondering now if its the Asus compund that I used, maybe should have ordered some Arctic?
