Bit by a spider!. (in the UK)

I don't bloody believe this...... I got bit again by another spider tonight . unlike the last one which I didn't feel at the time this one felt like a nip however unlike last time my finger has not reacted at all so I don't think it broke the skin. Google fu shows this one ( edit... more Google fu ). almost certainly a tube web spider.

but FGS. this is silly. never been bit before and have handled 1000s of spiders and now 2 in 2 days.
Did you make it 3 for 3?

Our house and garden is the kingdom of the spiders. Getting some thick web other decking and all the back facing windows.

Modt annoying is the webs that quickly appear on the van if it isn't used for a day, makes it look like it has been sat for weeks. The little @£^#%^## get into the rear door hinge areas and all over the mirrors. I found one tiny critter making a web inside in the cabin shelf opening.

I am switching to a kill on sight policy, as I think the house spiders I throw out are cross breeding with the garden gang.

More on topic, I have been bitten by a spider on the back of the neck. It fell from the kitchen light and bit before I even reacted to it's presence. The swelling was very painful and unpleasant for a few days.

I made it over 40 years without being bitten, but have now been bitten three times in the last couple of years. The first one, I'd been up in the loft moving some boxes around and the second time, I was stomping leaves down in the bin. Both times in shorts and got bitten on my leg. The latest time was the other week and I got bitten on the arm in the shed. Each time, I had two little puncture holes and felt a sharp pain. I seem to react quite badly to them and my whole arm/leg was swollen and red. Luckily it only seems to last a few days but it's been very tender to touch and itches like crazy.

I've known a few web developers over the years and some of them do get a bit bitey, especially when low on coffee.

I deliberately killed my 1st spider in living memory last night thanks to my 2 bites last week.

i was half asleep in bed and felt something on my face, knocked it off and sure enough it was a spider. i am not sure what species it was however it was not one of the normal ones you see this time of year, shiny black body, short legs total diameter inc legs about size of 10p maybe a little smaller. in the past i would have thought nothing of it and picked it up and put out of window however after my bite and swollen hand i squashed it in a tissue. it isnt something i want to do in general so i guess i am gonna have to order a spider catcher, because its not like i am getting out of bed and going downstairs for a glass and paper, but at the same time i dont want another swollen hand like i had last week.

I have a shipping crate I hire with all my fishing stuff and other crap in it, it's mummified in those gigantic fat ones that make the huge webs,

To open the door, I had to stand about 10ft away throwing bricks and stones / anything I could find at it to try and dislodge/move the damn things so I could at least open the door, managed to make it safe - got close started opening the door and a huge fat one fell down on my head ffs I screamed so loud, so so loud...

Hell knows what anybody must have thought if they'd been watching.

I think the warmer weather we've had has caused a bit of an explosion in spiders, and more of the bitey type. Thought it was quite uncommon to see false widows but they seem to be everywhere at the moment. I've now resorted to flattening them or hoovering them up. Certainly needs some population control, hopefully we'll have a bit of cold weather soon as that tends to kill them off.
